I'm getting the Elder, but i agree...the lack of effort is dissapointing.

They seemed so proud of the accurate and redone sword sheath, the shoulder bag, and putting the laser site on top of the plasma cannon. It's weird to not go any further than that besides some straps around the arms. Why do I remember Tankman sculpting the cobra belt? Also, why do I remember someone at NECA talking about doing this guy in the right colors?

I'm getting the Elder, but i agree...the lack of effort is dissapointing.

I would've rather they made it look more like the original prototype with the excellent color scheme (red around the irises, dark metal, spotty grey dreads, etc) and not worry so much about the little accuracy changes honestly. Would've made for a much nicer looking display.

Yeah it leaves a lot to be desired

Pro's : They made longer dreadlocks, most details are spot on, the skull sword etc...his face is very well sculpted, I was worrying about the frills etc...

Con's : Missing connections between crotch and leg armour...The armour should be a lot darker
The skin should be a tad more brown, it looks like they dipped him in the grey paint and that was it, his markings are nowhere to be seen...

Big Red is missing his black leather collar

It's all pretty fixable for me though....

Wow, thanks a lot guys! I'm disappointed that the color of the 8" Elder prototype is much more accurate than this 1/4 scale figure. It's not a horrible figure, just very underwhelming.

I'm wondering this myself. Did they pull Tankman from this thing before it was finished? The headsculpt on the original hot toys figure is better than this. I can get passed the paint but not sculpt.

Yes this is a real Bummer. I was really looking forward to the Elder=Maybe they will get it right with the final product..

I read some comments on twitter from Randy Falk and he says that this is from the fabric line, very close to the final product.

@Xander21,I dont think that these things are pretty fixable.

The errors on the sculpt are big, his loincloath/genital protection part is complet false.
I agree on youre cons.
But to the pros, I dont think they make a good job on his face.
1.Many squills are lost(chin and jaw area), the squills on the forehead are not long, stick around, enough. He looks to young.

2. His jaw looks to big compared to the rest of his head. They can easy fix this with the closed mouth jaw part from the Lost Predator(only change a broken mandible and a rig in the mandible).

3. His mouth is to wide opened, the Elder have a closed mouth.

@L Deimos, the color is fixable(but its still a shame), but the sculptis the bigger problem.

@edstuff, I dont undertand why tankman not fix the headsculpt. They must tooling the head for this sice, why they no fixing it ?

This one still tops the Hot Toys one for me, its not even comparable. Sometimes it's better to leave small details away with such a small sculpt, they are only going to end up too big and forced like with the HT one. HT is far off with the details as well, his clothing on the back, the black spots on his legs, the skull is in the wrong place and not attached to the sword, the shouldercanon is wrong. For the money it's still a great figure...it actually looks like the elder. It's mouth is too open? It looks pretty accurate to me, when he first arrivés in the movie his mouth is pretty much like that and I also recall a photo of him with his mouth wide open.

I have to say this 1/6 has a much better colour scheme and jewelry etc...but who knows how the end product is going to end up like

Yes the Hot Toys Elder have a few errors, but the neca elder have errors too. Many errors:

-the pistol is not accurate

-the colors are false(skin tone , dreads and armor)

-the second necklace is false, the Elder have a little different than the P1

-the ruff on the neck is false(the Elder have a P2 ruff)

-the nose is a little bit to short

-the netting on the right lower arm armor is missing

-the netting is not accurate

-the Elder have cobra belt buckles

-squills on his chin and the sides of his jaw are missing

-his belly looks to short, to fat

-the loincloath/croath area is false and the belts to his genital protection are missing

-his ankle looks something strange, to long

-his jaw are to big/long compared to the rest of his head

-his mandibles ae to wide open

At the most camera settings the elder have a closed or near closed mouth look. That is characteristic for him.

And its not fair to compare the Hot Toys Elder with this. The bodys at this time are very skinny.
But the facesculpt, paintjob and some details are better at the Neca one. And this is disappointing, than normally Necas Predator sculpts are spot on. Compare the City Hunter or the Jungle Hunter with movie pictures and than compare the Elder with movie pictures. The difference is bigger.
