The more I think about it the more I'm actually glad that we're getting a more neutral expression for the Sidious headsculpt. This way we can put the Sidious head on the Palpatine figure and then pose Anakin kneeling in front of him; one of the biggest moments of prequel trilogy.

"Riiiise."

Which is exactly why I'm contemplating getting 2 sets because I also have to have Sidious under his hood casting proper shadows over his face to get that ROTJ look to him. If I don't get the second set, I will still swap out the clothes for some photo work.

Yeah, in the movie it looks much darker...almost black like in the second photo.

Ya, with Palpatine's wardrobe and some of Padme's outfits in ROTS, Trisha stated in some behind the scenes footage that they utilized materials that would play with the light and they wanted to sort of reflect Palpatine's character in his clothes by having a sort of chameleon effect to some of his clothes to go with his character's double fascade.

The first thing that struck me when I first saw ROTS Palpatine photos was that his jaw looked thicker.

I just looked up a photo of ROTJ Palpatine and that seems to be true. Not greatly different, but enough to be important for accuracy.

It definitely changed, he's 20 plus years older than he was in ROTJ. In 82 when they were filming, he was young and thin and his skin was tight and what not, but by 2003-2004 his age took tole and he started to sag and for comfort sake I'm sure they didn't craft the makeup to tighten things up. What really defines him is his eyes, nose, and his expressions with his lips, which didn't change at all over the years, but the overall shape of his face differed throughout ROTS based on the lighting. For instance, in his office just after he's deformed and puts on his Sith robe, he really looks like ROTJ, especially when he says "we shall have peace", his face almost looks exactly identical to ROTJ when he says "I'm afraid the deflector shield will be quite operational when your friends arrive. However, if you look at his face when he first laughs at Yoda on the ground of his office under the senate, it looks really round and almost pudgy; it's also quite noticeable when he's shooting the lightning at Yoda in the Senate.

As for the idea of using the Koto lightning to custom the SSC figure, it could look ok, but the Koto design is made to reflect Yoda and Sidious both basically shooting lighting at each other in close proximity, where the more ideal looking lightning for these figures would have a ROTJ / ROTS look like when he first attacks Yoda, "Now you will experience the full power of the Dark Side!"

Man I love this character, 45 minutes and counting :)

I think the Sith lightning Mikey used in his custom Palpatine looks great. It is just kinda hard to attach it to hands without glueing them down. I know if Sideshow doesn't give us lightning, I'll probably try to display with the custom lightning.

Just under 30 minutes and counting....I'm dying to see how hard the SSC servers get hit for this figure.....

Lets just hope the new streamline ordering works and cuts down on server issues. Seems like this should only take 1 minute if all goes well.

Well, it's confirmed: 119.99. Not much of a bargain (at all). But it's freaking Palps! :emperor:emperor:emperor
