Lol back from the dead to save the day. Haha maybe he made a stop in Sparta on the way to order king Leonidas to obey the Persian king. This will be the second time he raised from the dead.

On a serious note it could be General Pompey's army although they should be coming from the west as he was called in from Spain not the ocean south of Italy. So it may just be part of Crassus's army

Can any history buffs tell us if Caesar ever had such a role as infiltrating Spartacus' army?

I know I could just look it up but I'm terribly lazy.

There is no historical evidence that supports that Caesar played a role in the Third Servile War (Sparatcus' war). I've read histories that say it's possible he was in Spain and/or Gaul at the time.

It will be interesting to see if they have POMPEY show up. Crassus, Caesar and Pompey are destined to become the First Triumvirate. The three most powerful men in Rome who will control the consulship.

Pompey "steals" the Spartacus victory from Crassus because he arrives late with his armies from Spain and "mops up" the Gladiator stragglers. He then writes a letter to Rome and says that he won the war and that Crassus did nothing more than kill a few slaves. This leads to friction between Crassus and Pompey.

Crassus and Caesar are depicted as being close in the series and that's pretty accurate according to history. Crassus is said to be a financial patron of Caesar and the two were closer with each other than they ever were with Pompey. The only way Pompey was secured in their confidence was because Caesar allowed Pompey to marry his daughter Julia.

Pompey gets credit because the remnants of Spartacus slave army scatter once Spartacus, crixus, gannicus and the other leaders fall. It is pompey's army that that tracks them all down. His army shows up at the end right when victory occurs which also why he gets credit. Really its those turncoat Sicilian pirates that lead to their downfall and some of the gladiators persistence on raiding roman lands for loot and women. Crixus is supposed to break off at some point to do this but based on last episode they might be diverting from history a bit.

It also didn't help that Crassus was a brilliant war strategist . He required that all roman soldiers be trained in the art of using the Gladius sword, and a spear in which the spear tip would break downward upon impact, so that the spears could not be picked up by the gladiators and thrown back at the soldiers. All this training was done while he was plotting to trap the slaves in and starve them into submission. The senate perceived that he was just sitting back but that was far from the truth.

Its interesting reading the history spoilers, I must still have my books from college somewhere, I don't think I sold them. One of these days I might have another look.

I know man, its gonna suck when it ends. Let's hope the rumors about the Caesar series are true. It won't be exactly the same and would be strange rooting for romans but at least we would get our "Spartacus" fix. All the producers and writers would be the same and even some of the characters. I am just glad the writers didn't drag out the story and stuck to the originally planned arcs. We got 3 great years and gods of the arena was good filler

I finished Blood and Sand and just started Gods of the Arena and so far really digging it, very interested to see where this story goes even though I know where it ends up its very cool seeing the rise of Crixous.

No clue if they are fake but they do have some big ones from time to time.

A spin-off series seems like the best thing to do next, and one based on Caesar makes perfect sense. Hope it happens.

I read that there was only one prosthetic wiener used, and it was for the character Segovax in season 1. I think you all can remember that. All the others are real apparently.
