i think PZ is the MOST overpriced sideshow collectible. and i bet if there was a poll, the majority would think so too.

patient=zero :lol

I read this and was interested because I did pay $350 and canceled out a bunch of stuff to get mine and while I don't regret it I wondered if it truly was consider the most overpriced SSC piece.....and whether or not the majority thinks so. Let's see how this plays out for kicks.

While the Weta poly stuff is nice I think a lot of that stuff is overpriced. Orthanc is one example.

Maybe it's me, but I find Sideshow's 12" toys to be poor, weak paint apps or dodgy likenesses at times. Plus those joints are hideous....Hot Toys are definitely the 12" kings (and I'm aware that sounds incredibly gay).

Too gay. :lol

What has that got to do with the speculation that Patient Zero may be the most overpriced Sideshow Collectible? You sound bitter about something. And what has that got to do with your appraisal that Hot Toys are the kings of the 1/6th commercial world, even if you are gay. :lol

I don't think Patient Zero is the most overpriced Sideshow Collectible because I got mine at retail. The aftermarket price has been set by collectors. Collectors that have been willing to pay to get what they want. Dollar for dollar the Balrog, for one, has bettered the Pat Zero, as one popular example. Had I wanted one now I wouldn't have been able to afford it, so, of course, I am happy.

No way. I got mine when it first came out for $45.00. It was so worth it.:monkey3
I'm glad I got it when I did. I don't think I would pay more than $150. Only because I'm a cheep SOB.

i see many think there are more overpriced ssc things. while i realize items like the balrog, cave troll and orthanc may cost alot more than a PZ, the PZ is basically a plastic 12" figure. the other items people may be considering as overpriced at least have some substance, and not just an extra bloody hand. you got to admit, it is just a plastic 12" figure. the boris karloff as the mummy comes in a close overpriced second for what you're getting as compared to what your paying for. that one had been going for around $300.

But wait, polystone is just plas... wait, never mind, I don't won't to start that again!!! :rotfl

Seriously, what an item is made of has nothing to do with it's value or worth on the secondary market; that is dictated solely by supply and demand. Low supply (PZ ES 300) plus high demand (people like Zombies!) equals a high value... simple as that. But is it the most over-priced SS item? That would depend on how you quantify that. For the ES, I don't think it is over-priced at all. Many SS products have higher edition sizes but still cost much more on the secondary market. If you want something truly over-priced, check out the Human-face Spike 12"... there were 7500 of the regular edition and during it's peak, it reached $200+, with the Exclusive version topping $300+. Now that's over-priced!

and a mercedes makes a lexus look like crap too...apples and oranges.

I remember when Human Spike was that high....actually its what I was thinking about when trying to think of something more overpriced. It is a basic 12" figure but at one time I remember reading Jason Part III figures that were loose with no accessories going for around $150....I don't think PZ is that outlandish and the fact that the line is gaining more and more popularity is fueling the fire.

a case could be made on what qualifies in this debate. when i commented, i had a 12" figure in mind so i should have said most overpriced 12" so the field would be level. i was mostly considering what you get for the price, secondary market value not considered. to put into perspective, the current cost of a PZ is more than a SIM. if you weren't knowledgeable to the collector market, you liked both ironman comics and the dead movies, and you saw both items next to eachother on display, which would you say was worth the $300 pricetag?

I'd say it is Orthanc, going by original price vs. aftermarket price now.

$100 retail, vs $1,000+ now to get one, a 10X markup.

Imagine if a dealer would have purchased 20 and held onto them......... Jump started college fund, or retirement fund, or new Mustang :monkey5

That beats any others as far as price increase to my knowledge.

I would say no based on the fact that it is so limited and the Dead line is really just kicking off now. Anything that limited has a chance to become very valuable.

Where are these selling for 350? I bought both of mine back when they were 40 or 45 so I don't think they were overpriced. But 350 would make them 300.00 overpriced.

They are only worth the original price in my opinion.

At 350$ ,It may be overprice for some, but a bargain to others....It all depends how much you really want the thing.

Does Doom Ex is really worth 1300 $ ??? To me, No. Does a night with me Would be worth in the hundred of thousands ??? For the majority of the female population of this planet ,Yes.

Ah! That is another part of the equation! Worth vs Value! What something is "worth" to someone, is not the same as that item's "value". PZ is a perfect example of this. It is not "worth" the current $350 or so it is going for right now to you and others, but that doesn't negate the fact that that is the current going "value" you will have to pay to acquire one. The difference between worth and value is pretty much what determines the secondary market prices of these pieces in the first place. If an item is worth the money asked to someone, then that will become the value at which it sells; likewise, if something doesn't seem worth what people are asking, it will eventually go down in value... Luke PF anyone?

Am I the only one who's never seen this "Patient Zero" figure? Anyone have a pic?

Thanks.

Plus it isn't exactly a collection centerpiece. The prices for Orthanc seriously boggle my mind.
