Ok, I need all your brains together to let me know if theres any major QC issues with those suspiciously plentiful NECA tmnts on ebay... I'd like a set of those gangly 80's throwbacks, but don't want a piece of crap :lol are they fit for purpose? how does the hard front shell impede movement? any thing else worth noting?

Simple answer. They seem to be ok.
I've seen them in Shanghai, Bangkok and Chiangmai. In stores, they are plentiful. They retail at around 30 quid a set. I was going to buy a set sat time I was in Changmai, but never got around to it. Every time I decide to get a set here, I find an old 80s / 90s original. One day, I'll pick up a set.

That sounds ok, I'm looking to see if there are any horror stories surrounding them, seems to just be bad/sticky paint and occasional joint issue or 2 left feet. I don't mind treating them as a project and fixing the paint myself, just if they break too easily or can't move as well it would suck :lol Don't feel like paying £100s for those that are guaranteed originals

The front shells are soft plastic, similar to what 3.75" GI Joe web gear is made of. It doesn't impede articulation at all.
Quality control is impressive. Paint applications are crisp and not sloppy.

They sound like the real deal, unfortunately I can't find those and was asking about the plentiful bootleg versions from asia :monkey2

I don't know if these are bootlegs or not. The ones in the tubes that I have seen and am planning to buy (30 - 40 quid each - not a set as I said earlier.. oops) look great.
I was going to order a set last week, but saw the 89 Turtle Van, boxed mint, so ordered that instead.
If you want to wait a bit, I will order my set on Monday, then take a bunch of pics when they arrive.

Pesky auto spell checkers!!
I'm watching that one later today. She was always an interesting character in previous incarnations of the show.

I've been trawling the net for a little bit now about the neca turtles, is there any place I'm likely to find originals for sale still? only ebay has an obscenely cased afa graded BNIB set for £800 lol. Still considering bootlegs, as long as it doesn't come with missing parts I can repaint/fix joints myself.

Going through flickr to see if I can spot differences easily, but I can't spot a fake (even with the criteria mentioned in that vid etc lol)

The difference in price here. Around 200 pounds for a 2008 Neca set, and 30 fir the copies. The individual neca 2008 figures, with the bases can retail at up to 80 each. I cant see any noticeable visual difference. I'd guess the weight and solidity would be noticeable.
I am having a Neca set picked up in Taiwan later this week.

I will be happy to let you know. I'm tempted to get a set of the cheap ones in BW as well. These come in a rectangular packaged window box.

I thought the buggies were still to come out!! haha!! Obviously NOT paying attention. Thats a good price there. Now you and your son can race them around the floor. !!
And that reminds me. Back in the day, There was the Turtles Scalextic set.

Got these dudes finally today :rock
