People/critics called ASM a "pointless" remake, I wonder if the same will be said of the Batman reboot? Especially if the Nolan Dark Knight is the more beloved franchise.

Possibly. Depends on if they do another goddamn origin story. Begins is the definitive Batman origin. Start on fresh territory to avoid the "pointless remake" tag.

The best way for the Bat-reboot to fare well vis-a-vis Nolan is to set itself apart. Stylistically, it needs to take another approach. Because taking the same approach, it is going to be hard to compete, and even if it is good, folks will wonder why they are bothering. I think one of the things that ASM failed to do for many (not for me, but for others) was to set itself further apart from what Raimi did. They had a different tone and approach, but they weren't all that different really. It even seemed like the font and opening CG was reminiscent of the Raimi films. So, it was easier to say, "well, these movies are pretty similar in style, same origin being told for the same character, lots of similar lessons learned I guess, what's the point?" I think it could do Batman well to be situated in a less gritty, realistic world. Not Burton Batman, but maybe something closer to the Marvel universe style of comics than the Nolan style. More like traditional Earth 1 DC style Batman. Where wacky super powered villains don't have to be made "realistic" in some measure. Let the movies be more fantastic, and explore more about how Batman exists in that kind of universe. That's what I would do.

They should have it in an expanded universe ala Arkham games.

They're fairly even to me. Both first movies are pretty good with the second movies being better, and the final movies being a bit of let downs.

:exactly: :goodpost:

Though of the two sequels i feel SM2 is a much better superhero movie than TDK which is more of a action crime thriller

Something like the Arkham games, Animated Series, or. . .they could go back to the origin of all that stuff with the traditional, pre-Jim Lee/DiDio comics would work just fine I think

Good point. The worst of the Die Hard series was, in fact, better than the best of the Nolan Batman series. Also, the worst of the Ghoulies series was better than the best of the Toxic Avenger series.

I voted Batman only because of how awful the third spiderman was and how I liked Amazing Spiderman more than the first spiderman movie.

I like (borderline love) the first two Raimi movies, but the first one hasn't aged well at all imo, and....

Begins was a better origin than SM1. TDK was a far better sequel than SM2. And, TDKR was easily better than SM3.

This is pretty bang on. Vote goes to Nolan!

My vote goes to Nolan's trilogy. Who knows it couldve been Raimi's trilogy if it wasn't for Spiderman 3.

That's actually a difficult vote for me... hah.

I thought the first two Spiderman movies were really fun and enjoyable, especially the second. I can see myself watching the first two over and over again. Batman Begins was entertaining and so was TDK... both to me have too many slow moments, but I find myself only wanting to watch TDK specifically for the Joker scenes and sometimes Two-Face.

So I guess my vote would go to Spiderman. Even though I'm a Batman fan, lol. Those movies could have been so much better... to me of course.

And I very much agree with Nam about the third of both movies. Ugh.

wow what a thread Nolan's bats has it better story, better actors not as phony as the Raimi’s movies .

Considering they are 2 trilogies that try to appeal to an audience in very different ways from eachother I find it hard to choose one. Depends on my mood. If I feel like something more fantastical and light I'd go for the Spiderman films, if I want 'realism' and character studies I'll go for the Batmans.
