Hi, all. After impulsively starting a new project tonight, I decided to get a customs thread of my own going. Apologies for not having more to show, but it's late and I figured I'd just tease my current project and upload my other work in the morning (and there are plenty of photos, no worries).

In the meantime...

The boardies who know me wouldn't be surprised. :lol I'll have newer pics of the sculpt tomorrow (or technically, later today) as this one was about a half-hour old and I'm still cranking away.

Trent Reznor??

Indeed it is. :rock
Did a little more work on the sculpt today. This is the first thing I've ever done in 1/6, so I'm forced to use tools which is tough. Never been good with those things. The lips are a challenge and I'm not sure how I'll handle the eyes, but so far it's going better than I thought it would.

Another project I've been working on and off for quite some time is a life-size (well, a little smaller as I imagine it would fit my head with little to no spare room) Predator mask. I have a thread cataloging my progress on The Hunter's Lair and thought it might be cool to share it here too. It started out as a P2 Elder, but the spikes were a pain so I decided to turn it into a generic Predator (a bit of the Elder, a bit of P1, etc.). I rarely work on him nowadays since I've got other stuff to do, but hopefully I can finally get the thing done, molded, and cast by the end of next summer before I head out to college. There are about two to three more hours of sculpting left until I can move on to the next phase. Normally a project like this could be finished in a few weeks, but it's hard getting back into the groove after putting it off for months at a time.

I've taken quite a few pictures throughout the years of this guy so, in an effort not to spam the entire thread, here's a summary of everything up until now:

That was all before I switched characters, so this is what he looks like at the moment:

NIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trent is awesome. But I don't really like his emo, Downward spiral-era look.

NIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:panic::panic::panic: It's a dream figure idea of mine. I saw your screaming Maynard sculpt BTW, looks fantastic. We need more 1/6 musicians in our collections besides Michael Jackson. I'm actually surprised no one's done David Bowie yet.

He has a variety of looks for sure, I just thought his mid-nineties one was the most iconic. Plus that era was arguably his peak, so the long hair, leather pants/shorts, combat boots, and fishnet attire would really sell the overall likeness.

Thanks!

Well, that was fast! Think I need to pick up the pace.
The lips on yours are almost dead-on. How'd you sculpt them? I managed to fumble around with my tools and some rubbing alcohol (for smoothing) enough to do nostrils and am working on the eyes as we speak, but lips are still a mystery to me. Did you just add clay and smooth it in with a padded tool or did you carve them and smooth them?

Haha, Thanks. Take your time though. I tend to rush things. I actually used one tool to sculpt the whole thing. I use what I think is a cuticle manicure type tool. For the lips I first sculpt the eyes, nose and then the mouth. I add a piece of sculpey to the top part of the mouth, right below the nose then add the bottom lip. I sort of blend the sides together and almost draw the mouth if that makes sense. I've never actually used a padded tool. It would probably help me alot.

Ah, okay. I sculpted the nose first too, so it's tough to get in under there to smooth stuff out. One lip at a time though, that sounds good. I'll give it a go. Right now he's looking a bit like Donald Trump.
My padded tool is really one of those pokey needle thingies with a couple layers of paper towel (or tissues) wrapped to the top in a soft point. I use tape to keep the tissue on and dip the tip in alcohol for better smoothing power.

Whatever works, I guess. :lol There are quite a few nail products out there that could be helpful for sculpting, so it makes sense.

EDIT:

Lips were a pain, but here they are. Tomorrow I'll get to the eyes.

NIN :rock My partner would go mad for a custom of Trent :lol

Looking great so far and I agree there aren't enough music artist customs out there. Would love a David Bowie, Steven Tyler, Freddie Mercury, Slash, Johnny Cash to name a few :D

NIN is my favorite band of all time, and my son's middle name is Reznor, so I will be watching this thread closely! Any plans to make the head available?

Thanks, guys!

@Reinhardt: It's my favorite as well. I was actually thinking of naming my firstborn son Trent. :lol
If the head turns out well enough and I figure out how to properly cast and prepare it (joint-wise), I could certainly make it available. Never done this before though, so there are a lot of kinks to work out.

Re: Blade3327's Customs -- 1/6 Trent Reznor sculpt & 1/1 Predator sculpt (NEW PICS!)

Sweeeet! One of my most wanted figures ever. Can't wait to listen to the new "How to Destroy Angels" EP tomorrow. :rock :rock

I debated on Trent as a first name, but then knowing my luck, my son would turn out hating all the music his parents like (as I pretty much do of my folks!)

This way he can use the middle name if he likes. Ofcourse I've already got pics of him as a baby with a NIN onesie, so I'm good now. :lol

BTW, with your lips, I can virtually see Trent kissing the microphone. Very nice!

Every time I think Trent, I think of the hours I spent playing Quake! :lol

Didn't know what to put him in, I thought this was kind of Trent Reznory.
