Hope you're right and SSC pulls through with great paint app on this.
I think it's going to be great. Like i said earlier sideshow have really moved up a gear some great pieces have come out just recently. Dutch from predator, the terminator from terminator 1. Not the same scale but very very good pieces.
Let's not forget how great the snow troll and everything from that line turned out :clap

Not sure if that's the angle, but the helm seems a bit too big. it's same size as the torso, not including the spikes. Looks a bit like a kid in a costume.

I find myself sharing this observation.
Is seems to be something of an unforseen and unfortunate consequence that LSF (and similarly sized figures) have a tendency to look like small children dressed in costumes rather than statues.

Think I am going to stick with my Weta Sauron and leave my imagination to handle the scale.

Sean.

For your money maybe. Having seen this in person I have no problems saying this is very much worth the price. This is amazingly detailed if you actually looked at my pictures instead of sticking your head in the sand. Also, you can still get Jerry's print from his store to put two fantastic pieces together. Finally, a light up helm would have made it more expensive and look dumb.

well, you have the winner`s eyes, because you can saw in person

if you say that work the money in this piece i believe you,but i need to see homemade pics and personal videos of the final product,is much money my friend :monkey1

I also saw this beast at the con. It was an impressive piece for sure, I actually prefer the glowing effect to be painted than a light up feature. But I do understand the concern of many on the paint of the production piece, let's just hope the production piece would be close enough to the prototype. The glowing effect on the prototype in person looks amazing just like Darth Vader statue.

This PF will be a centerpiece in LOTR PF line for sure, I can't wait to see in hand pics of this and DROM PF with the rest of the bad guys in the PF line. I would get this if LOTR is my line, I am focusing more to marvel, dc and gi joe now due to a limited space.

$900 is a great price for this PF, this piece was displayed next to Wolf LSF at the con, to be honest I am more impressed with $900 Sauron PF than $2000 Wolf LSF. All LSF are overpriced for sure.

This and Galactus Maquette to me are almost like a bargain considering Neytiri is $1600 and Wolf LSF is $2000, they all look about the same size when I saw them at the con.

There is nothing wrong with waiting it out especially with the amount of money involved. :peace

I am pleasantly surprised that this awesome statue's price turned out to be less than what I was expecting it to be. I thought that this will be over $1000. And I have $100 worth of reward points I could use on this one. And it being less than $1000, it will be free of duty/taxes in Australia. :yess: And I can still get the Black Orc of Mordor PF for $200!

I love it...I love all of the photos from SDCC as well as the SS website...good enough for me...now we gotta wait nine months or more to get it....most folks do not own a 3ft piece...This will amaze you when compared to other Pfs

It's a beauty Adolfo! And will be the centrepiece in most LOTR collections! :clap

Great price considering its size.

So if I'm understanding correctly then, 'legendary scale' products have $1000 added to their price tag because of the word 'legendary' in the title ?

it's the licensing fees & production costs more than anything

But all you need to do is look at things from the same license.
Lets use Star Wars since it gives us multiple examples in PF and the rarer LS.

PF Star Wars = $350-380 price range (2012 era pricing) ...same as other PF statues, cheaper than DC!
LS Star Wars = $2000

So licence cost nothing to do with it.
And I just don't see production costs being almost 6 times higher.

I think the LS pricing is just because Sideshow thought people would be willing to pay that.

I'm wondering if lower than expected order numbers on their more expensive pieces has resulted in the price being under $1000 for this one.
