But wasn't the problem with Indy that it was fundamentally just a bad head sculpt (in addition to the deep set PERS)?

The Luke on display is the same head sculpt, just with a ****ty paint job and cheaper looking outfit.

They said something like "don't worry Indiana Jones fans everything will be great" after the first crappy pics caused outrage. And everyone had freaked out. Or something similar. Again through a social media site in a similar fashion. I couldn't be assed to check through the Jones thread to check exactly what it was.

Looks like your Indy comments made it round the Globe Rory :lol

Who said *****ing didn't achieve results!:lecture:rotfl

Might go back to my original theory that it's taken so long between preorder and production that they've had to cut corners on painting/tailoring/etc to meet the price point (esp for two figures).

The main reason that I am currently willing to give Hot Toys the benefit of the doubt is simply because it does look so terrible.

The Batman DX12 prototype to production caparison:

Versus the Luke prototype to production caparison:

Two figures released at the same time with, not just a slight, but a massive difference in production quality. This would be such a complete lapse in every level of production quality control that we are just not seeing with any other release. (Even Indy wasn't this bad.)

It looks like the same HS to me- poor paint aps on the new pic(look at the eyebrow details) and just SOFTER contours on the face- loss of sharp detail on the lips, cheeks and hair. (sound familiar?)
I think it is a PRODUCTION HS poorly lit/photographed but I basically think this is what we are getting

I kind of doubt this idea. The DX12 Bats has two heads and an extremely complicated outfit and costs $40 less. Tossing in an extra body costs Hot Toys very little. They've more than made their money back on that basic mold, and the outfit is so simple that it can't be that expensive to produce.

It's not really 2 figures though. Duplicate body and suit that they just bust up.

A lot of figures come with 2 head sculpts anyway. It's not like there's anything complicated about him, or even that expensive looking for that matter. He doesn't have design head aches like Iron Man or complicated armour like Batman. He's basically action man in a fancy box.

It doesn't look like the same sculpt to me, but time will tell. Personally, I think it would take more than lighting or a cheap camera to make the production figure look this bad.

I could see this being the case. If they did indeed get into a bind like that, they would've been better off just admitting it couldn't be done at that price point and figuring something out with the fans. I'm sure most of us would've been cool paying another $100.00 to get the grail we were anticipating.

Hmm, good points, too.

I agree. :exactly: I honestly believe this is it, and what we are seeing now is damage control from HT.

just posted on their wall on Fbook....hope to get the ball rolling for NEW pics!!!
IT can be done...if it turns out the pics posted last week are REAL....then cancellations here we come.
NEW pics will reveal all.

Again though if those pic were real, Why take final production pics and figure down? (damage control? I don't buy that) From the store?

Again i dunno know but this figure looks SO different i find it hard to believe HT would let it pass!

Bats and Luke ship the same week. If that Luke is actually what we are getting, I will at least have Bats to soften the blow.

(But, I am still going to be awfully damn disappointed.)

But it should also be noted that, given the price tag, and the wild difference between what we paid for and what we received, that it might actually constitute fraud, and Sideshow would be forced to allow them to be returned for a full refund.

me too..:1-1:

But i will have Neyo and Sandman to soften the blow :)

It didn't include shipping in my notice, but I would guess around $20, which would make the grand total around $320.

even MORE $$ for shipping to international buyers...Id say $350 for most of us.I feel bad for those that have to pay customs fees.
