Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight: Batmobile - Tumbler (relaunch)

I drove to my local customs office and took my tumbler home. This baby is HUGE! Such a behemoth. I got late in the game (I didn't preorder), cost me $550 dollars (express shipping included to Argentina).

I got it from a seller from ebay (absolutecomicsandstatues), the guy was great, answered all my questions and shipped real fast.

So glad I have it! Too bad I have to wait till next year to display it when I move out. So it's back in the box.

You lucky ... :lol I got it for like $660 shipped to Chile then had to pay like $200 on customs taxes.. How much customs charged for this on Argentina?

Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight: Batmobile - Tumbler (relaunch)

Why are you guys paying eBay prices when you can still buy this from Sideshow?

Unless you are in located in certain countries in Asia where sideshow refuses to ship any Hot Toys to.

:goodpost:

I was wondering that too. I have it on flex and my last payment is November, right when they expect it in stock. I also noticed BBTS has it in stock, same price as SS...

Man it is like my super power to choose the wrong retailer to order product from. I usually go with BBTS but this time went with Sideshow thinking they would have them long before everyone else. I hope they get some more in soon and start shipping out the second batch.

This, while some retailers based in the US who ship to Asian countries charge ludicrous amounts of cash just to have it brought over. And then the customs. Oh, customs. I'm not sure if bigger retail companies declare low value, but most Ebay sellers can be talked into doing that. :)

For something that costs so much, I would be very careful about under declaring the actual value. What if the item gets damaged or lost during shipping? :dunno

This and the '89 Batmobile are just about the only items I have on order through a UK retailer. I usually get stuff direct from HK, but items this big, complex and expensive are just not worth the risk.

:exactly: I am 100% in agreement.

USA'ers just don't understand LOL. They haven't had to pay the astronomical shipping prices or customs fees. If they ever do...they will understand why we do what we do. :monkey2

Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight: Batmobile - Tumbler (relaunch)

Im very mad Iordered this at msrp, plus ca tax, plus ca shipping when I could have gone other outlets for cheaper and quicker...plus I had the cash to get it now! grrrr...would cancel, but il lose my nrd.....

Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight: Batmobile - Tumbler (relaunch)

Sideshow was asking me $700 for shipping alone on the Tumbler. :cuckoo:

US ebay seller asked me $122 for shipping on the same item. :dunno

Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight: Batmobile - Tumbler (relaunch)

Mine arrived on Tuesday (nothing was damaged) and I am in Toronto Canada. Sideshow charged me $65 for shipping, and then FedEx dinged me for another $70. I actually thought the FedEx charge would have been more.

So far I am loving it…I just don’t have anywhere to put it at the moment :lol

I made the same mistake. I cancelled with BBTS and went to Sideshow:slap. I've already paid the NRD and my first Flex Pay so it'd be silly to cancel and order from BBTS. I now have to play the waiting game :gah:

That is not bad at all. I ordered a $50 shirt once from Hot Topic as a gift for my niece and Fed Ex charged me $30 in fees :horror

Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight: Batmobile - Tumbler (relaunch)

At least you get some nice rewards points buying from SS

The reward points are an illusion. You save a few bucks, but at the cost of paying a heavy premium price. Example would be the mark I 2.0

Sideshow would have charged me like 255, i think, not sure, but definitely more than 250. with tax and all that good stuff. while bbts charged me 211. thats more than the cash back ssc gives....
sometimes you just gotta do the math :)

Damn Fedex fees.. those fees should be considered illegal or at least CLEARLY specify at the moment of shipping how much the recipient would have to pay.. those fedex fees are always a surprise... :slap

Good point, sir. I would have to agree to this. However, I believe most would rather risk the insurance, as the risk of getting overly charged by customs is more probable (like 100% chances, in my country at least) than having the item lost/damaged in transit.

(I tried to pose as a buyer at Sideshow last week to see if they could ship the Tumbler to the Philippines and how much it would cost. I got an email response today and they said they don't ship some Hot Toys items, including the tumbler, to the Philippines)

Thanks for the math lesson.

But you gotta remember that since people who live in California also have to pay taxes on their figure. So sometimes with free shipping, and reward points, it can be the same deal to go with sideshow. But you also get to accumulate rewards points for future purchases. Not mention their customer service is top notch.

Sometimes you got to look at the bigger picture :)
