Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

I found some awesome 3D renderings of Bane on the interwebz, Hot Toys could use these.

One things that stands out to me is the difference in mid-section bulk.

Still on the fence with this guy...holding off on the PO for now...

More like AWFUL :dunno
Such a simple looking character need more work to look realistic.

It need a loot of work to look more realistic/accurate... easy pass for now... hope they fix this figure and give us some new photos before the release.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

Alot of things have to be remade/change (not tweak, it's far beyond that). And from what i have read, most people r not happy with it.

Such a great character, sad to see it going down the same path as MGS Boss - being the next worst looking figure from HT :monkey2. And i actually like them both.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

I still have absolutely no problems with how this looks to have turned out, amazed by how much moaning is going on about it :dunno

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

Specifically at the straps that connect to the belts at the waist is a major problem, in the render(which I find pretty darn accurate) the entire armor is *TIGHT*. The straps are tight, they're flat, they're nice and neat. That's what this figure is missing, VOLUME! A bigger body will fix a lot stuff I think, especially the romp. The arms are actually not that big on Hardy. And I haven't even began on the tailoring....

It's not perfect by any means and can see why someone would pass on it, but some of the full-on hatred it gets is puzzling. But yeah, opinions, what're you gonna do.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

Yeah that's probably the reason I see no issue with the figure, I'd never pose him without the coat on so the size appears fine then

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

I think I can honestly say this is one of Hot Toys worst figures.

It seems a bit rushed...you'd think given the money they earn they'd develop unique bodies for characters that need it as much as bane. The lack of PERS seems crazy when it's the characters sole means of facial expression. It could have been better, that's for sure.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

PERS would have put this in the DX price range. Don't know if any figure has been "DX'ed" on their initial release. Secondly, I'm not sure how you can hide the seam on his bald head. Haven't seen a PERS opening on the bottom half of the head before.

Re: Hot Toys – MMS183 - The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Collectible Figure

Perhaps that's why this is the quick cash-grab release, which gives them longer R+D time on a PERS version.

I despise the pics that come out of that on.cc whatever it is. Its like they set out to make every figure look as bad as it possibly can. However, that body is what it is.

Same here. It's not hard to futz a figure. Just a simple pose with natural lighting will do. Its beyond me why people on this forum can do it but not the people that are takings professional pictures can't.
Actually, the more I look at the shirt the more I think something can be done with it. Its fine, just ____ty futzing. Putting the gauntlet over top of the shirt would have helped considerably. Maybe round out the shoulders a bit and see what can be done about making the left sleeve appear shorter.

I assumed there needed to be more then just PERS to be a DX. At least a second head and/or some sort of major accessory piece? More accessories in general..., but i'm not wanting those things. bane is a very bare bones figure as he stands. He has less stuff then most other HT releases, but that it due to the character not using much in terms of props. So it would be nice for them compensate the fact by adding value elsewhere. Ie. unique body sculpt and PERS. that's the only way to really justify the price of this guy imo. At the moment you're getting too little for too much.

You could hide the device behind the mask. Have the mask attach via a magnet, and use a rod(similar to the DX 02 batman) to control movement.

I agree about adding value elsewhere but I just do not see them giving the DX treatment. No need. And I dislike PERS for the most part. I like the sculpt just the way it is, don't need moving eyes. But there is no reason or excuse that they can't give us a new detailed TT that is unique to the character.

I just haven't seen an MMS release with the PERS feature. It's kind of HT's "deluxe" feature to justify the DX line's existance. I can't see HT changing their MO for a character like Bane. He's cool and all but he's no Batman or Iron Man.

Just to add a point, I'd rather HT pour their R and D into a body type which matches Hardy's than figuring out how to install PERS into the next version if there will ever be one IMHO.
