anyone know a way of cutting without making it look cut? lol. I mean, on Gohans cape, I really want to remove the bits in front of his arms to get some more movement there, but i want to be sure it won't look sloppy.

only thing i could suggest is to use a craft knife to slice it. then you wont be 'cutting' you would be 'slicing'! :) dont know how the capes material edge will look once sliced though - probably a bit better than cut???

there are natural lines to slice along to make it look kind of natural i.e along the shoulder pads then down into the cape... im not sure how far down you would need to slice into the cape to make it look natural though???

good luck with it!

Yeah i was thinking that, if I "slice" it I may have a bit of fine sandpaper at the ready just incase lol

You know; I've been thinking/ hoping, that when they do eventually release regular Goku, that he will come with a special smiling face for SSJ goku; I honestly think that Goku needs that face since he looks too serious in his SSJ figure.

Heck, if regular Goku comes with one for that figure I may just get two and paint the smiling face lol (providing he uses the same head pegs)

EDIT: I can't believe they were at one point thinking of actually giving SSJ Goku a smiling face! WHY REMOVE IT?!?!? It honestly looked perfect IMO;

Oh well, at least from what I can see, that smiling face is the same as the one we seen on regular Goku a while back, so the pegs should be he same for some customising lol

I don't get that one either... That smiling face is so rad, and Gokou, while my favorite DBZ figuarts so far is really lacking without it. :(

So... I know it's been a little while since SDCC, but my friend was there and just recently organized all of his photos. He was nice enough to get some close ups of the new figures (as well as some good shots of the diarama) with his overpriced camera, so I figured I'd post them here.

Here's my collection

Those are some pretty good poses. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get the ki blasts and the energy rings around their feet from? I've been using Megaman X D-Arts buster shots, but those look a lot better.

The yellow-orange "explosion" was an effect part for an ultra-acts ultraman made by bandai (like the figuarts series), but the smoke was something they made for that diorama specifically.

I think it was just for the first run so it is most likely expensive now.

The figure was called "ultra-act Ultraman Gaia V2"

The reason i know about it was because I wanted it too lol, but all newer versions of the figure don't come with it unfortunately, which is a shame because its about as close to a "power up" effect part as you will get!

The blue "Agul" blue version of the figure came with a quite nice "water blast" effect part that resembled a kamehameha, but again, only with the first editions which are expensive;

if we / they keep the line going then i think eventually they will have to produce a seperate DBZ figuarts line of stands and effects .

it makes sense really - more ¥ / $ for them.

If you go to the sell/trade part of this forum Wolvie you might find one for a good price; managed to get a guy selling off his original Goku for £60 this week; may seem steep, but for what ebay wants for him (£100+), that is dirt cheap to me lol.

i just got my SDCC Gohan - it's badass!

i kind of like the contrast between him and picollo, he makes Picollos gi and boots look old n worn and faded with age as opposed to Gohans fresh to kick Cells ass look.

i could paint picollos sash blue and arms pink no problem, but i dont think i can be bothered!

Gohan was a bit overpriced.... but its cool :)

OK, finally got my Gohans and original Goku, and managed to paint gohans hair black, although for some reason it came out a bit jagged around the eye area, but it will do for me lol.

The last two thumbnails are my custom cape attempt; as you can see, alot more movement in the arms for just a tad strangeness in the look of it when the arms are flat.

Came out pretty good in my opinion. That SDCC Gohan really is a step up compared to the original release.
