:lol:lol:lol

Man, you are fast at photoshopping.

Would never have bought that crap, unless I was 8 and planning on playing with the figure. I think there's a line where something becomes acceptable as resembling what its supposed to look like. That figure would not pass IMO and the only reason why I would buy a figure is to display it as an accurate representation of the character in question. That is their purpose.

Haven't been in this hobby very long have ya? :lol

I remember this was completely acceptable to me. I really enjoyed the hell out of it. Accuracy be damned.

Honestly, unless you've collected for a while, it's easier said than done. Back then Sideshow and early HT's figures were a huge step up from say McFarlane or NECA stuff. Since then we've experienced a steady incline in quality. It sure didn't happen overnight.

I think this is where I differ from many collectors here on this forum. I don't collect toys. I personally collect these things because they look like mini-persons of the characters they are trying to resemble and I want to display them like pieces of art, not toys, in my collection. I never bought Neca or McFarlane in the past to display them as pieces of art, I played with them as a child. Destroyed them even haha... (naughty boy..) :monkey3

But then I grew up and I wanted accurate representations of movie characters in the form of statues/figures. I literally wanted the actual actors to stand in a display case in my home. :lol

Now, I understand that the Joker V1 was the best Joker back then. But if this figure in the photo was the best accuracy we could get 5 years ago (just an example) for the purpose of displaying it (not playing with it):

I would not buy it. Am I making sense to you? :dunno

Yeah it's all about context and perspective. It's like trying to explain how awesome the NES and Super Mario Bros was to someone who's only played the Wii, Xbox360 & PS3. :lol

Got my order in today for the EX then signed up for the comic con newsletter. Wish I would've known it came with a $10 off coupon. Would've loved to have used that on this

The prototype for the original MMS 67 isn't bad as some sort of "concept" TDK Joker. I like the tailoring of the clothes and the vibrant green hair. Would have been cool if the actual production version was as good like they are today.

I remember when the choice was that or these,

No, it's not the same. :pfft:

Edit:

Let me explain why. The purpose of NES was to play games. The purpose of Xbox 360, PS3 and WII is to play games. The purpose of toys and "collectibles meant for display" are different. The Joker V1 did not fulfill it's purpose to resemble what it was trying to look like. Hence, I didn't buy that crap.

Not even the Medicom Joker.. because that came out after the BR Joker. So it was either the HT V.1 or the DC Direct 13" POS.

Yeah it took them forever to get that panda Joker out.

I remember all those threads with polls. "WHICH 1/6 JOKER SHOULD I BUY: HT, DCD or MEDICOM?" I believe the earliest Joker custom was the DC Direct head repainted then frankensteined onto the Hot Toys figure.

I transplanted the Bank Robber normal head onto the V1 and left the slicked hair head on the Bank Robber. Worked out pretty well for me.
