Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF..Link to buy in 1st Post.

You will end up getting it.

I don't think so. I think I'm quite ok if I don't. I'm happy enough with what I have in the collection. I just got Gollum and Gandalf. Those were two key players I needed to feel complete with this line.

THis one is just going to be troublesome to display for me and I don't like the cost.

I need to wait and prepare for the Droid PF's coming as well.

But you never know. As of right now, I didn't jump on the preorder.
I will wait this out if anything.

If I was a LotR collector, I think I'd have to buy this. I'm not, and it sure is an eye catcher.

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF..Link to buy in 1st Post.

I suggest to wait until comic con before reserve,i want to see more pics of this piece

Is possible that be better or worst in person

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF..Link to buy in 1st Post.

I really want this piece. Badly. Just keep thinking about how many different things I can get for $800. I have no doubt though that this will be a Dr. Doom PF like investment though.

I second the Droid Purchase!:hi5: Thats exactly why I'm refraining from buying this beast.

Almost everything looks better at the SDCC

Also, I did think this was mostly horse as well but truth is that its far more, its the presence that it brings, a dark and terrifying character. Few other statues really create such a fearful atmosphere.

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF..Link to buy in 1st Post.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this before, but I think the F4F Link on Epona statue looks way better imo concerning the horse's posture:

SW Gandalf on Shadowfax does look better, too:

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF..Link to buy in 1st Post.

i checked horses on google images doing the same as our ringwraith and it seems totally possible for a horse to recreate that kind of position.
Its maybe to much for us, but the horse wont fall on his back.

Its probably a strategic posture that sideshow decided to take to be sure the statue is more stable and harder to brake.
We dont see it much on ss pics, but maybe the tail touch the floor and it helps to maintain and balance the statue in place.

we will see better at SDCC.

SS didn't show it much on the product pics, but if you look close, that tail is attached to the base somehow.

I know some have already chimed in, but just for good measure; this pose is completely realistic for a horse to achieve. Just one many people don't see often.

That's funny, I did the same thing. There are tons of pictures showing horses rearing, even with a rider, in a similar pose as Sideshows. Some of them are even on the tips of their hooves!

The only thing I'm curious about is how it looks from the back...need to see the 360 view. I'm sure this is going to look stunning in person.

That's a receipt for disaster for such a heavy statue, i have yet to see a horse statue with tail perm attached to base that's not eventually cracked.

link on epona is the only statue that did it correctly, with the detachable tail that is packed separately and connected afterwards.

I went through 3 gandalf on shadowfax, all with cracked tails. So is the aragorn on black gate and legolas arod. ALL have cracked tails.

Just thinking about all the headaches I had to deal with shipping those damn things back & forth scares me.

Zero faith, and the price made it an easy pass for me.

If I didn't have so many points to use on it, I probably wouldn't have gotten it either.

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF..Link to buy in 1st Post.

those that are getting this are tired of hearing about the pose of the horse.

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF..Link to buy in 1st Post.

The horse pose query questions the skill of the artists at SS. I'm sure they know what a horse can and can't do and can recreate that, which I assume is why SS employs them ? The artist skill and the time taken to get it right tells me this is one to see in person to get the full sense of proportion and 'feel' of the piece.

Re: Ringwraith on Steed PF..Link to buy in 1st Post.

I think the pose would have been better with the horse a bit more horizontal but i see why SS went with a more vertical one,to keep the centre of gravity in a smaller area, less chance of breakage etc

Im getting it to. But im still curious to understand why sideshow decide to position the horse like they did. Its just a unfamiliar pose for lots of people.

I would wait a while I can see this all over the Internet for 100.00 to 150.00 or more less than retail price. I would not pay SS price for this even if I wanted it. It's not a ex. Just look at the people who waited on the big chap. I save 275.00 off SS price on the big chap. Same will happen to this piece.

I'm not so sure about that. I had Berserker EX on order and cancelled to try to get it cheaper down the road. Missed the window and now it's commanding 2 to 3 times the original SS price. There is a real dedicated audience for high-end LOTR items, especially the baddies, so if you snooze on this EX, which looks to be the definitive PF piece, prepare to pay a King's ransom for it later.
