Faith has arrived! Woohoo!

nr 24/250, for the exclusive :)
and she doesn't appear to have a lazy eye (or maybe just a little bit, but not as much as I've seen in this topic).

however...... there's something really weird.

I took the base out of the styrofoam, and noticed that the inside of the plastic bag was wet. Yes, wet. There's a little bag of silica gel inside too, which is supposed to suck up any water that might be there. That one was soaked.
I picked up the base, and i heard the sound of water moving. So I shook with it, and there's water inside the base! It must have been in there all the time, since the rest of the items in the box are dry, the styrofoam is dry, and both the regular box and the shipping box are dry.

Now I don't mind seeing Eliza Dushku in a soaking wet t-shirt, but real water on a statue like this it's a bit odd.

just contact sideshow customerservice and hear what they have to say , maybe they will give you a small partial refund

o_O wtf that is just too bizarre.

and its not just a little bit of water. When I tilt the base, I can feel it shifting from one side to the other. I tried to get it out by holding it upside down and tilting it various times, but only a few drops come out each time. So that will take a while.

It looks like someone at the factory was trying to water the dirt polystone surface of the base to see if they could get some grass to grow. :slap

lol yeah, might be.

well, I mailed SS customer service about this, and sent them the link to the video. Let's see what they think of this.

I subjected this lovely lady to a photoshoot. As with ohter pics, the material and color on her skin doesn't lend itself well for using a flash, but I think it turned out quite ok.

and more pics, inclusing some of the base and the issue some have with her feet:

no, not your imaginations, she's a liiiiitlebit crosseyed. But not as bad as on some other photos I've seen.

I just don't get these factory painters. This happens far too often to be an accident.
I think these painters think they're doing a good job. Or, the hours are too long on the job and they start to lose focus.

I read on the SF that someone else got a statue and the base was wet. I can't remember what statue it was.

Maybe SS told the factory that collectors like weight to their collectibles so don't be cheap on the polystone.
Factory decided to fool everyone and fill the bases with water instead of more expensive poly and you just happened to get one that leaks a little.

yes that was one of the options I thought about.
That, or they clean the bases with water, but if the peghole was drilled a bit too deep it would have made a hole in the interior (hollow) area and caught some water.

is anyone willing to drill a hole in one of their recent statues to find out? :)

edit: I just looked in the peghole with a flashlight, and I can clearly see that the base itself is hollow. So my guess is that's what it's supposed to be. Can anyone else with the statue look in the hole to see if they see its hollow under there?

I think your explanation is more realistic then my over imaginative explanation...

I just took my flashlight and peeked in Willows hole (yes, that sounds very very wrong) and I can clearly see that her base is hollow too. So my guess is that is the way its supposed to be.

I'm getting Faith in a couple of weeks it should be shipped soon. Apprehensively G'd up!

I'm starting to kind of wish I didn't join up here as I now see all these frightening things that I would have otherwise been oblivious to hahaha and it's made me really weary of ordering and kind of lose some enjoyment/anticipation in the process :slap
