I don't think Arkham City figures would suit Sideshow's strengths. Frankly, they aren't the company I would go to for "gritty, realistic" characters. But as their Joe and Star Wars line show, they are very good at more fantastic and comic styled characters. I think it would work best for Sideshow if they focused on DC characters from the comics and cartoons. If Arkham City figures are to come, it should be Hot Toys that produces them.

While it sucks that it may be such a long wait till we see anything, its probably a good thing. More time to save money. I just hope we get some info as to any plans, or specific designs etc they might be making and in what scale.

:exactly: 100% agree. The downside is the waiting and the upside is more time to save money for their next DC release...

Well then let's hope to see some kind of news by New Years.
To go along with what Karamazov80 said, I have been wondering how Sideshow will do the armor of the Batsuit from that game. That, along with the new armor look of both Batman and Superman in the new 52 has me curious to see how they plan to showcase those suits.

Who knows, SSC might pull it off. We will just have to wait and see.

Exactamundo. :goodpost: I'd be happy with them just showing a couple of designs and saying "we're making these three characters as the next 1/6 and this is our next PF" etc. Just so we got a bit more info as to what to expect.

Yeah, i've wondered this too. In one of the issues of the Arkham City prequel comic, there's a scene with Bruce in the bat-cave with bits of his suit removed, and it kind of looks like its a spandex style suit, like the comics, but with armour on the torso and shoulders. Seems really interesting.
Either way i'm really looking forward to what Sideshow come out with for their 1/6 offerings.

Just a few weeks ago SilentSurfer said he hasn't had anything DCD reach his desk yet and he has been Sidseshow's go-to guy for 1:6 figures lately. The Joker PF had been worked on for 2 years prior to his SDCC unveil. They made him to show DC what they could do. And Andy just crazy fast on sculpting the Batman 1:1 bust. Other than those, I think it might be a while before we see anymore DC stuff. Certainly not 1:6 for a while since they have to build new bodies in addition to just outfits and headsculpts. It could be SDCC before we even see anything sadly.

I hope to see more PFs and 1:6 scale figures based on classic DC superheroes and villains! :clap I most eagerly wanna see PFs for Darkseid, Lex Luthor, Black Adam and all of Batman's rogue gallery!

Wonder if SSC will make any polystone statues? They didn't mention it on the sneakpeak video. Hope they do...

You have to remember that the stipulations of the license have differed from the Marvel days. Whereas Marvel and both Premium Formats and Comiquettes, newer licenses like Disney have a 1:4 Premium Format figures like Chernabog for example which contain no fabric and are almost entirely polystone but still considered PFs.

From what we've heard from members on these boards there is supposedly a comic based Green Lantern 1:4 piece which will contain no fabric due out in 2012 that will light up, similar to Chernabog where the mixed media refers to more than just the presence of fabric.

Of course they will. If there is one thing you can count on Sideshow producing it's all-polystone statues. :lol

:slap Duh, of course I know their statues are made in polystone. I actually mean if SSC are going to make any comiquette and maquette types, 'cause they didn't mention it on the Inside look video.

I guess we won't be seeing a reveal or even a mention of their first 1/6 scale figure before the year is out. Running outta time.:(

Sorry to get off topic, but is there a reason why sideshow hasn't made 1/6 Marvel figures? I'd think it'd be cool to see DC characters alongside Marvel's.

I've seen medicom's and other's attempts and they aren't that appealing(comic rendition that is). If this line is going to look as some say it is, why not delve into the Marvel library?

Remember how Sideshow usually does reveals between Christmas and New Years? I forget what it's called but I have a feeling they'll debut their first then.

That usually would have been going on already if they were doing it. So we might get the old Christmas Day surprise of 1 product or licesnse like in the old days. So I'm doubtful of us seeing any DC 1:6 this year. We've been told Destro might preview the end of 2011, or early 2012 so seeing him would be more likley than a DC figure right now I think. SDCC really might be the earliest we see one :(

Remember, the Joker was in the works for 2 years! That is why he was already ready when they announced the license. They didn't start working on 1:6 until they got the license and it can easily take a year for a product to be completed.

Its been asked before and their answer was basically they didn't have the bodies for it. Their bucks and pros would have looked horrible in tights. But now that they are doing them for DC, they might go back and extend their Marvel deal for 1:6 now. I think it all depends on how the DC figures do. If they tank, they won't do Marvel ones. If they take off we probably will. So if you want Marvel figures you have to buy DC ones! :lol

There were multiple reasons SSC gave for not doing 1:6 Marvel, the bodies were one, the outfits another and finally scale. Advancements for lines like Star Wars where you've got unique characters that don't necessarily depend on the standard base body and them moving forward with their outfitting since the inception of the Marvel license lead to DC's frontier.

I would imagine you won't see them doing Marvel in 1:6 until they know that DC's are successful, if the DC ones are flying off shelves then I have no doubt that we'll see them opening up to the other side of the road.

Stop that! :lecture I don't think it'll be anywhere near Comic-Con. I forget if it was this thread or ask Sideshow, but somebody asked when we'd see the first DC 1:6th and they responded with something along the lines of very soon.

They said on Twitter as well it'd be very soon and hinted that it'd be Bat-related
