Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

You bet your a$$ I complained about it but as I said all along - I had still got the figure on pre-order and would reserve final judgment until I'd seen it in person.

That time came when I received the figure and it took no more than 10 minutes for me to conclude that it just wasn't what I was hoping for.

ALL of the points I made in my "rants" were 100% correct and valid so the only absurdity around here is when people like you try and convince people like me that this figure is perfect when clearly - our opinions are completely opposite to each other.

So basically, you're lying about selling a figure you never ordered in the first place, and never had any intentions of doing so, to make your world-class whining in the previous threads, and this one seem somewhat legit? :lol

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

I got one with a shiny forehead due to the plastic they wrap around it. Pissed. Anyone else get one like this?

Here is a tip for those who got shiny spots. Stupid Hot Toys. I got a shiny spot too, very small but large enough to bug the ____ out of me.

What to do quick easy and painless. I first tired this on my BD T-800 head which had a spot and i had another coming anyway with the intention of turning it into the police shootout.

Trust me on this it will get the results you want, completely and utterly seamless... tape iff all of the head with masking tape except leave that spot exposed. Get SPRAY ON testors dullcoat. Not sure about other brands, used what worked for me (im about as ____ as they come). Sometimes this can be shoddy so make sure you got a good can, test it on a random piece of plastic. if its completely dull with no shine to it it works great.

Than from like 8 inches away spray the exposed part lightly and don;t douse it. wait for it to dry which should take seconds. repeat once if you need until the spot is gone.

Remove tape and relax...

Trust me hot toys heads take dullcoat better than anything i've ever seen, its a failsafe way to fix the problem.

OK to the guy(s) ______ing about the color of the costume.

Watch any commentary or making of bit. They mention that there were several costumes of varying shades of blue used to film against different back drops. and when you watch the film there are more than several scenes where he looks just like thje color HT picked

So even if you saw a 1/1 in person and you thought it was a different color that actually meas jack squat.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

OK now for my gripes about my favorite figure if the year (why talk about how cool it is right? who wants to hear that?)

- Arms cant go down far enough on the side
- shiny spots on some heads
- the damn zipper
- ice and base yada yada

and the big one for me

the LOGO for the record i think its too small, but they sre majority wise a little crooked.
I spent a good hour last night looking on the thread, when i could swear mine was crooked, though subtle. it seems most are like this, a few looked to be straighter and a few looked to be really crooked.

Had i not seen here the gusy who got REALLY crooked logos i might not have bothered to think about it.

it sits straight but the bottom peak of it is not evenly distributed between his pecs, there is more pec on his left than right.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

My S is crooked, but not so much that it can't be mostly futzed away. :)

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

For Superman the Movie - there were 3 different colors.

1. Teal Blue for the "hero" shots (non-Special Effects scenes).
2. Teal Green for the flying sequences shot against the Bluescreen.
3. Ligher version of the Teal Blue used for the scenes where the costume gets wet in Luthor's Lair. (They wanted to try and maintain the same color appearance on the suit even when it was wet).

I agree that HT's costume matches up pretty well with the color as it appears on screen. It all depends if you want your figure to match how it appears on screen (which isn't a bad thing I guess), or whether you want it to match up with how the costume appeared if you saw it in person when Reeve was on set.

The color of the Reeve costume I saw was the "Hero" Teal Blue version.

Why wouldn't you want it to match what you see on screen? :huh

Look at Mattel's Zod. He had that red detailing on him, which was, I guess accurate, and nobody liked it because it wasn't SCREEN accurate.

Some people just want a green Superman I guess. :huh

The blue/teal was sometimes color graded in processing and sometimes not, so the suit color is all over the place when he flies.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

That is a question that can't be answered because everyone wants something different.

For me - I prefer to have the colors the same as the actual fabric used to make the costumes.

Others prefer to have it looking as it does on the screen.

It's all down to personal preference.

Try and have this discussion with people who are into Star Trek. Man, there's a big debate there about what color William Shatner's Kirk tunic should be!!!

Why wouldn't you want it to match what you see on screen? :huh

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

Yes, I know they color graded it in post production. I'm talking about the three colors that were used for the costumes if you saw them in person.

For Superman 3 - they DID have lots of different colors used because they wanted to show his costume slowly changing - getting darker as he got more evil.

The blue/teal was sometimes color graded in processing and sometimes not, so the suit color is all over the place when he flies.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

You have to be :cuckoo: to return this figure if nothing was broken on it.

Humans are not perfect so what humans manufacture won't ever be perfect.

Yes, the Space Shuttle can blow up and kill people.

Ferrari's do break down.

Nolan's BB and TDK movies do have some faults.

HT 89 Batman's cape probably won't drop and flow with the same weight as the movie version.

The HT Superman is damn good enough for most reasonable thinking people.

Nothing in life is perfect, get over it.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

Man, everytime I enter this thread it's chaos! :lol

cking - your points are duly noted and I think there's not much value in repeating yourself over and over, those who love this figure won't be convinced otherwise, and those that are disappointed by the little things that could be better, are likely to remain disappointed.

Everyone arguing with cking - your points are noted too, no need to drag this on longer than it already has dragged on.

Let's move on shall we?

Honestly, if you don't like it, who am I to tell you what to think? What I know is that I like it, and in the end, that's all I give a damn about. However, Cking, if the outfit is what you don't like about it, I'd reconsider selling, if you check the customs interest thread, BobbyC (and his associates) are going to be producing a high quality 1/6th suit for this guy. Their 1/3rd suit looks incredible, so you may want to check that out.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

Thank you everyone who took part in Superman month. Some of us old f@rts have been waiting since Superman the Movie was in theaters for a decent figure, so this was a long time coming.

Thanks to Hot Toys for getting this one right.

And thank you to Christopher Reeve, who will always be my favorite Superman.
