Here's the second photo... another note on this.. I extended his forehead up a bit with milliput to set the fedora tilted back on his head a bit.. wanted the hair to stick out from underneath and show the head injury as well.... and I know it is a dead horse.. but Trevor's sculpt, particularly this one, just really puts Ford in 1/6 I think... love the look of this head... best one in 1/6 in my opinion so far..

OK... admittedly crappy photos... but you get the idea... have finally gotten traction on my own Raiders custom.. something I had never really done... used the rescaled PF sculpt and painted it myself in a base of acrylics then oils then chalks... also added real hair which gives a cool effect....then gave the fedora a good fuller's earth dusting... can't wait to start on the clothing :) Planning on building some kind of custom display base much like I did for the Jock and Jungle Belloq custom.. just not sure what I am going to do..

Nice paintwork on this, but I never got the love for this version of the sculpt. The oral breather expression in the mouth ruins it. Plus the sculpting around the eyes doesn't look right. And it's a recast. I'm done... Again though nice paint work. Your affection for the subject matter is apparent.

Technically a recast.. yes.. but a substantially altered work (from 1/4 to 1/6).... a buddy of mine from Sideshow advised a long while ago they had no issue with that... would be different if it were a direct cast being sold on the open market.. anyhoo.. I am planning on taking this up to work next week and shooting some photos in our photo studio to get better quality pics..

The reverse of the above brings back memories...

Exactly my reaction when I stripped the paint off the SS head and realized that bad paint wasn't the only issue with that head. Probably wasn't as tramatic as a 1:1 encounter would be when the face comes off.

I know I get that it's just a personal peeve of mine. Unfortunatly I think it suffered a lot in the translation. I thought the 1/4 scale was really good except for the mouth, which kinda ruined the whole thing. The casting you painted has the same mouth issues amplfied and the eyes are way to small in proportion to the rest of the face. If you like it that's all that matters. Nice touch with the actual hair.

This is still hands down the best representation I've ever seen of Ford, regardless of brand/sculpt etc. That to me, is as close to Ford as anyone has ever done.

To elborate on my head painting comments I found an example of what I was trying to explain. I never implied that the SS head looks nothing like Harrison Ford, I pointed out the things that are off. When someone repaints the SS head and follows the shapes as sculpted the result doesn't look like HF. The few repaints that actually look like HF are ones were the painter "adjusted" the sculpt with stragically placed highlights and shadows to push the sculpt into a better likeness. This is accomplished by using a method similiar to what makeup artist use to make women more attractive than what they really are, such as the attached picture.

"Just because a sculpt has vaguely the same shaped nose and a scar on the chin doesn't automatically make it a dead ringer for Harrison Ford. Seeing what you want to see and looking objectively at what's actually there are two different things."

This works both ways.

I hear you. However, most of what you and I will see on here is as much down to photography skills and lighting as it is down to painting skills.

I'm following the features on my sculpt and I still see Harrison Ford. Mind you it's set to become a moot point when you see what's emerging from Warrior's Gate. These guys could well set the standard, we'll see....

I actually think it's the opposite of what you're suggesting--I think the production paint apps take away from the sculpt by shading and highlighting the features wrong. The repaints that work best take away the bad paints, which is usually getting rid of the eyeliner and dark circles around the eyes, and lightening the beard. Yes, people are also adding a little red here and there, but I think what is most effective in bringing the sculpt out is neutralizing the dark shadows in the eyes and beard.

I tried to get some pictures of my Snyderman Indy head. My pics aren't much better than the ones posted already. Obviously I'm in the minority but I still think this is one of the best Indy sculpts I have seen. I happy with it. I've decided it's a fool's errand to try to convince people who don't like it it is a nice piece of work. Thanks Snyderman for offering this head as well as the Marion Ravenwoods. Look forward to seeing any other Indy universe heads you may offer.

All been said, I'm afraid that none of his Ford's heads look like H. F.

I don't blame him cause its hard to get the likeness just right.

:(

Agree with the first part of your post. I'm interested to see how that digital sculpt turns out.

Seriously? What are you using for reference, other sculpts of Ford? In case you didn't know Snyderman is not the sculptor, it's his mother. She does licensed portrait sculpts for several different companies. From what I have seen she probably has forgotten more about portrait sculpture than 90% of the people who post on these boards know about it, including myself. Check out the studios website. Several years ago she sculpted a life size Indiana Jones head for a member of this board whose name escapes me. I saw that head at a comic show in Orlando and have been a fan every since. If you don't see Ford in their sculpts you do don't see him. As I pointed out in another thread I have seen sculpts by at least 6 different sculptors on this site of Ford. There are post in each thread proclaiming that that particular Ford is the best. It amazes me how differently people see the same things.

I agree, she's very talented, she's an artist! And I love her Marion, Danny Glover and the other figures that i've seen from them. The painting also is awesome. Just their Ford sculpts are really off... to me and to other people.:peace

Hi guys, thought I'd share my WIP Indy repaints/customs. Anyone have a lead on a decent suit to replace Belloq's?
