I'm only vaguely familiar with the series, but this gives me hope for HT eventually doing Guts from Berserk. That'd be quite awesome.

Well judging by their choices of 20th Century Boys and City Hunter, Hot Toys has really great taste when it comes with manga. Rather than really want certain series in particular (which I of course do), I just hope they keep releasing these at least twice a year. Then, we shall likely get some really cool series choices.

Big time fan of the TV show and the movies (I've watched all of them). Can't wait to see their interpretation of Saeba Ryo.

And, yeah, I would love to have a Gutz figure from Berserk. And while we're at it: Himura Kenshin (Rurouni kenshin), Yusuke/Hiei/Kurama (Yu Yu Hakusho), Vash/Wolfwood/Legato/Knives (trigun), Brandon Heat/Beyond the Grave (Gungrave), Rumik world characters (Ranma, Inuyasha, Urusei Yatsura).

I would definitely buy the above figures in 1/6 if Hot Toys did them. Kinda lost hope that Medicom will ever do them.

*waits patiently for Devilman,Witchblade or Claymore figures to be made*

Out of those, the only one that's possible would be Devilman.

It looks like Hot Toys is trying really hard to appeal more to the Japanese market and this is definitely their flagship series of figures specifically or that purpose. In other words, they are probably going for the big series that have a good fanbase, most of which would also be willing to pay large sums of money for collector items. In other words, they are likely targetting mature/seinen manga and anime along with things from the 70s, 80, and early 90s, where most of the fans are now adults.

So Go Nagai is definitely very possible. Super robots like the Mazinger would never work because of its odd proportions, which would make doing a good articulated figure difficult and underwhelming. Also, it is directly in competition with companies like Bandai and Aoshima, who tall diecast figures. However, Devilman is perfect. He is a humanoid so the articulation would be no problem especially with how they've handled the Predator figures. He is also one of the single most famous anime/manga figures and my personal favorite of Nagai's works.

Berserk and Vagabond are definite possibilities. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure would have been, if it wasn't for Medicom, but perhaps Fist of the North Star is open to them now since Medicom seems to have abandoned that license.

I do not think most shounen series, even ones like Yu Yu Hakusho, will be bothered with though. The market for shounen merchandising is bizarre. It seems like the more expensive the figure is, regardless of quality, the far less buyers it will have. In general, the market for shounen stuff seems to stray away from figures in general. Companies like Bandai have lost a lot of money due to trying to make use of licenses like One Piece and Dragonball, but getting lukewarm sales.

Hunter x Hunter is possible though, but only for someone like Hisoka or Lucifer. It's definitely an oddball in Shounen Jump's lineup and it has historically been given different treatment in all ways. Char from Gundam is possible. They did him a long time ago and it was nothing special, but certainly possible now. Slam Dunk is a great choice. Kinnikuman would work. Cobra would work, but the problem is that Medicom released a RAH of him and I doubt Hot Toys wants to try to compete with the anime licenses.

Despite being horrendously violent and very depressing I love Devilman*I'm praticulary fond of the Amon series incarnation of the character* though don't think I could stomach Violence Jack or Devilman Lady*the manga, I like to pretend the anime never happened...*.

Berserk and Vagabond are definite possibilities.

I really hope so. Guts (Black Swordsman or Berserker Armor) and Griffith in his current armor would be dream figs come true for me. I'm really glad to see a few others here would love to see Guts as well.

I think Guts would make for an amazing figure if done right. Him and the Berserker Armor would make terrific figures. Unfortunately, the only real Berserk figures you can get that are worth mentioning are the Art of War pieces, which are gorgeous, but so expensive.

I really hope that was a joke.

No I'm not I just freakin got into anime like recently chill out. And besides I'm more into the mainstream that I knew I never heard of this show or manga.

Don't get me wrong, I think Manga fans should get their share, but why call it Comic Masterpiece if it's only Manga? I'm hoping this line will encompass comics in general.

No offense but hot toys has it's hands full with superheros in marvel and dc. Let's finally get superb anime characters for a change.

Well random speculation is fine and dandy, but we should probably get back to City Hunter. How big of a release do you guys think this will be? Multiple outfits? I wonder how much it will retail for and also if they plan to do more characters from the series. If Ryo sells well it'd be great if we got one of Kaori as well.

Yeah. They are pricey as hell and I haven't been a fan of any of their head sculpts. Looks like Dragon had to team up with AoW to make that meh 1/6 fig. I wonder if HT would be willing to do that.

The thing with Berserk is that its fanbase would likely be more willing to spend around two hundred dollars for a figure than most other series, especially considering what they are used to (Art of War). If they did go with Berserk, it would probably end up being an entire lineup, which would be so awesome. Berserk is one of my all time favorites. Guts, Berserker Armored Guts, Skull Knight, Griffith, Femto, Band of the Hawk Casca, Farnese, Serpico, and small humanoid form Zodd. Greatest lineup ever.

Good point. Not only do people pay a lot for Art of War's Berserk statues, but there's a lot of pricey custom kits out there as well including life-sized helmets, etc. There's definitely a market.

Looks to be December release
