I don't think it was a lie. But I do think they should eat the cost for their error.

You honestly think that because this has an exclusive, their hands are tied on shipping it free from their facility? If it has anything to do with the exclusive, it's that they looked at the bottom line and realized free shipping on the unit cost of the ex (same price as reg) would eat into profits.

Again, just tell me "we're not offering free shiping on the ex, but you can still get it on the reg". That's plenty.

I've said my peace on it. Love the figure, and I'm certainly buying one. I just get pissy when I feel like I'm being manipulated by marketing.

Is the Kryptonite truly a Sideshow exclusive or will everyone else get it like the Jack Sparrow telescope? I would like to know before I overpay at Sideshow.

the JS telescope is available everywhere? I thought it was a US/sideshow exclusive?

Wouldn't really be surprised. HT completely negated the Sideshow Exclusive DX04 Lee figure by using the "exclusive" body with the Casual Lees and including the "exclusive" stand with every DX shipped.

TBH it's not being charged the shipping that I have the problem with, but the lame BS lie they conjured up as to why. Just say we're not offering it on this one. Don't feed me some sort of placebo that tries to make them look like the victim.

I didn't see BS in this:

"Because of the exclusive status, we are not able to offer the free domestic and discounted int'l shipping on the exclusive."

They didn't say what it was about the Exclusive status that disallowed their inclusion of the free shipping deal. Just that the fact of it being an exclusive making it ineligible for free shipping. Could be they just knew folks would pay extra and wanted to take advantage of that, or that they had to pay HT more for each piece. In either case, they said precisely what you wanted them to say, as tautological as it is: "The exclusive won't get free shipping because it is an exclusive. The regular will, because we are having this promotion for the regular."

Yeah kinda crappy when they (SS) came to this forum and posted free shipping with no mention of ex vs regular. The should honor their statements really poor service IMO

I like your wording better.

Am I to assume every exclusive has this policy? Or just the profitable ones? Again, I don't want to get into a big stink over it. I just have it out for marketing because I've been knee deep in it myself and know the in's and out's. In fact, I've had a saying for years now "marketing is simply a synonym for deception". Nothing new here, except for another home run by Hot Toys. Marketing always has and always will, draw you in with big promises and small print.

Ordered the reg with free shipping, plus used up some rewards points. Got it for $195 shipped which isn't bad imo.

It's a Sideshow/Toy Hunter's Shared Exclusive. Similar to the arm for the Mark VI or the holopiece for the Mark II. You won't find that piece at retailers but you will most likely find it online for a premium once the figure has been released.
