Nice work Dmac for the thread and Chris for the excellent letter.:clap

Welcome aboard DD and Fingers.:wave

I don't think I can do the 'post a potato' thing so I have gone for the letter option and taken a cue from Seaward for a touch of Middle Earth homeyness (with tongue firmly in cheek! :wink1:) :lol

Another week, another barrage needed folk. E-mail, Snail-mail, parcels, visits etc, etc.

WE WANT THE FELLOWSHIP IN P.F! :lecture

Hi everyone,

So I have my first (of hopefully many boxes) of potato chips to send to Sideshow.

I have been offline due to a situation at work. A coworker got nailed for using something like 90% of our available bandwidth, and IT is watching our internet usage like hawks, and we are moving office space, so even my personal life has been in disarray, but I should be available more during evening hours after we get settled this week!

I have my first letter to send, and I will be glad to collect letters from our overseas collectors and send a bag of chips on your behalf. I plan to send a box every week to 10 days or so for the time being. I quickly sketched Gollum and Smeagol on the box, and used SigEp's phrase of "Keep your nasty chips, we want Hobbits!" on the exterior of the box. If people would like to have me send a bag of chips on their behalf, shoot me a PM, and I will update in the thread who I am sending a letter and bag of chips for. I will probably try to send multiple bags of chips in each box, as I am thinking of using the brown shipping boxes for the Premium Format figures I have, and adding a sketch to each one, such as the Witchking with a phrase like "Give us the Halflings!!" or something equally geeky.

I am going to try to get some pics of the Witchking and post in that thread, but I will add pictures here shortly too, of the box and letter ready to go! Sorry for my absence, things have been crazy and I used to log in at work during downtime. Since that is out, I need to find more time at home to get to keep up with things!:wave

This is a great idea! I can't afford PF's, but I wish you all the best of luck. I hope that Sideshow finishes the Fellowship, the nine deserve to be casted in their sunday best!
Agreed, you guys are legends. It's just a shame that you had to go to these lengths at all!

Good luck all... :clap

Sending chips with the phrase, "Keep your nasty chips, we want hobbits!" is a great idea! I'm planning on contacting SS about this as well, though I have to say that I want Boromir and Gimli as much as the hobbits (as I'm sure most of us do). Hopefully, SS has realized that if they produce a Boromir and a Gimli PF, followed by say Samwise (or Sam in between those two), they will have set up a situation where even more people will want Merry & Pippin PFs, to round out the collection.

Keep bangin' on that door! :)

Is there a letter that us in the states are supposed to send or do we do our own?

Yeah, I thought there was supposed to be some kind of form letter for us to be able to print and forward [along with the potato chips] to SS. I think this type of 'organized' petition would be much more effective than personal individual letters.

Maybe. But in the meantime a few personal letters may help tick things over until such a petition is agreed :1-1:

OK, I justed received an email from SS in response to an email I sent this morning and I found this part of the response from Mike [Tolentino] very interesting:

"I am also glad that you are happy with the recent Ask Sideshows that were posted. We are also still looking for responses from our fans to see if they want us to continue the Fellowship in the Premium Format. If you still have friends that have not responded, have them do so now! Thank you again and have a great day."

I would strongly suggest those interested in a complete 'Fellowship' in PF contact SS as soon, and as often as possible. Otherwise, from the sound of things, PF's of Merry and Pippin will never happen. :(

It would be great to have an idea of where SS has set the bar for this. How many signatures will it take? Hopefully it wouldn't be something outrageously high.

Thanks for that woodsy :clap

I have sent in yet another request for the completion of the Fellowship in the PF line to SS. I know it not much but at least it's something.

Call to action: come on guys lets get those requests flowing into SS. The more the merrier. :hi5:

I sent my request...

Dear Sideshow,
Please complete the fellowship in Premium Format Scale!
Merry, Pippin, Sam, Gimli, and Boromir all need to be made in Premium Format. I understand that they will be done in the sixth scale form. The only issue is that I am not interested in those.
The secondary PF characters are a nice addition to the collection however, the main characters listed above are vital to the story. It is imperative that they be made in Premium Format.
Sincerely,

I did contact Mike at Sideshow asking for the best method to contact Sideshow with our request, and here is his response:

"The best bet would be to email our Customer Service Department at [email protected] with the request. Simply title the email PRODUCT SUGGESTIONS and we will forward the emails to the appropriate people.

Thank you again and have a great day."

Personally, I am going to put an email together, save the draft, and send it to SS every 2-3 days with my complete 'Fellowship in PF' request and I am also going to ask friends and family to do the same. I think bombarding SS this way will be very effective, and fortunately it requires very little time or effort on our part. To those who participate on different forums , please pass on this info and try to get those forum members involved as well. :)

I took a page out of Seaward's book and have drafted my own letter. Please feel free to use it, tweak it....or send your own. But please send something! Clearly the ball is in our court....we can make a difference.

Concerning Hobbits [and Hobbit PF's].

"Hobbits have been living and farming in the four farthings of the Shire for many hundreds of years Quite content to ignore and be ignored by the world of the Big Folk, Middle Earth being, after all, full of strange creatures beyond count, Hobbits must seem of little importance, being neither renowned as great warriors, nor counted among the very wise."

In fact, it has been remarked by some, that Hobbits’ only real passion is for food. A rather unfair observation as we have also developed a keen interest in the brewing of ales and the smoking of pipeweed. But where our hearts truly lie is in peace, and quiet, and good tilled earth. For all Hobbits share a love for things that grow. And yes, no doubt to others our ways seem quaint, but today of all days it is brought home to me, it is no bad thing to celebrate a simple life."

Bilbo Baggins

We are all familiar with Bilbo's wonderful description "concerning Hobbits", and yes, while they do seem of "little importance" to the outside world, nothing could be further from the truth to those of us who love Tolkien's world of Middle Earth. And nothing could be further from the truth to those of us who love and collect Sideshow's LOTR collectibles....in particular, Premium Format statues. We, as fans and collectors, recognize the importance of Hobbits, both as members of the 'Fellowship', and for the roles they played in restoring peace to Middle Earth . We, as fans and collectors, also recognize the importance of a complete 'Fellowship in PF'. We all wait anxiously for word of Gimli and Boromir PF's, but that is not enough! No 'Fellowship' collection will be complete without Sam, Merry, and Pippin. All three played vital roles in the restoration of Middle Earth, and all three deserve to be represented in Premium Format. Please make this happen Sideshow!
