Probably because it is fairly plain looking without many bells and whistles, and represents a period of his career we have already seen. But I hear you. This is one of the few MJ figures I would want, so it bums me out that I don't know how or if I'll get one. I would have preferred them to do any post-Thriller-era MJ as the con exclusive, but then again. . .maybe this is the only way they would have released him at all. In which case, I'm thankful for that.

I can understand exclusives, but did they have to make it such a monumental one in the career of MJ? I mean, it is Beat It. I would of thought they could of done something smaller or a variation of a past rendition.

They did sort of pull the rug out from under the fans.

I agree with this 100%. I feel bad for the hardcore fans of MJ who may never get to own this Beat It version.

I always felt they should've made an alternate version of an existing figure for their 10th anniversary exclusive. Like having the Thriller MJ in the jeans & varsity jacket with a switch out werewolf head. With that, you've got an existing figure, an exclusive costume and an exclusive accessory (the werewolf head).

Beat It is just too monumental and iconic for the fans to miss out on.

This should've been a regular release. The anniversary exclusive should've been something like Captain Eo. Cool for those who want it and no big deal for those who don't.

Prices on YAJ are coming down a bit as well. Like with any release; the first week or so prices are inflated because everybody wants one...

I got one on YAJ through a friend in Japan. I was willing to pay a premium because I wanted to have this one fast (will get it this week) and be sure I got one, cause I have the other MJ's as well and want to get 'em all :)

Ordering from Amiami would've saved me $30, so not that big of a deal.

If they are hardcore enough and want it enough, then like Kameo Kid, they can get one. They may have to pay $400 or whatever, but it isn't like folks don't have options here.

:gah:

I hate seeing in-hand pics... it only reminds me that there is a good chance I might not be able to get one.

so they were released today at the hottoys store

we should know something from amiami soon

I think $300.00 is my limit on this. I really hope ebay prices drop.

Prices have dropped in the last day or so. There's a few now at the $300 mark without factoring in postage. There's one now with a starting bid of $1, also, but it might very well end up just as high. Still, prices seem to be dropping. Unless I'm confusing listings, the person previously asking for US $1,000, the highest on there, has now suddenly dropped to $500 and they've got 5 in stock.

Here's some more pictures from the Toy-World forums. These don't look too good to me, it seems to suffer from the same problem as 'Thriller,' where the expression makes action poses look strange. I'm content with a standing-still pose though, so this doesn't really bother me much.

Yeah, prices are dropping indeed, but I think it'll stay around the $320 mark plus shipping.

I'm sticking with amiami for now :p

I just love the iconic jacket on this figure! Pictures never do actual products justice. I bet in person, it must look fresh!

When I saw pics of Thriller MJ's costume, I liked it. But when I actually had the figure in hand and was able to see the details in person, I was amazed.

I'm pretty sure I'll feel the same way with Beat It MJ in hand.

It was sold @ the show at 18000 yen, Amiami sells it @21000 yen, 3k yen more
Hydeous said in the Scarecrow/Demon Bats thread that it actually sold for 1180 Hong Kong Dollars (not sure where), which equates to $150 (as opposed the the 21,000 yen figure, which is around $100 more than that).

Are you sure that you aren't looking at the "MSRP" price that was originally listed? That is usually much higher than the actual selling price of Hot Toys figures.
