Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

I'll try that. I tried pulling the smutz off but realized it might be making it worse.

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

A bit late in the day now (sorry) but a handy tip I discovered when removing velcro'ed outfits from my old Toybiz Famous Covers days; see if you've got another bit of velcro lying around somewhere - that way you can cover the 'hook' section to prevent it from catching when you remove the outfit.

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

Got mine about an hour ago. Opened him up which seemed like an eternity to take him out of the box and plastic inserts. Box is not collector friendly. Anyway, he's really nice and the glossy look on the headsculpt isn't noticeable in hand like in the review pics over at TNI.

Sorry for the bad pic. I tried to re-create the flying pose from the Super Powers card art but it didnt turn out too well.

Is this a custom or the Mattel Superman? Is that head sculpt from Mattel or was it repainted?I like the boots but the figure itself looks like a Tonner doll.NICE!:wink1:

It's not a bad pic it's fine and thank you for it. UPS tried to deliver mine today but my wife had popped out so he's coming tomorrow. Can't wait.

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

It's my own sculpt. I sculpted a bald reeve, made a mold and two casts. Sculpted two different hairstyles for Superman and Kent. This should tide me over until I get the Hot toys superman. :D

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

This one is using the Triad Evo body. This body has really big feet and I had to shave the toes off to make the boots fit.

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

I think I'll just stick to the body it comes on and mod that if I feel like it. maybe with some cotton...

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

The Evo is a great body IMHO, but it doesn't seem to suit the look of Superman.
I still believe a regular narrow TT would do the best job... maybe even one of the old ones, with the big shoulders.

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

Those EVO knees really look worse on a skin tight outfit. Wish they wouldn't have made that aweful change.

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

Yeah, I was looking at those knees, too. This body style really was a waste for me. I was hoping it would look good on something. Plus, the shoulder width is narrower than the Enzio/advanced version I originally used and also movement is limited. I think I will be going back to that one.

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

Mine arrived 2day. Overall very pleased with it.

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

Yep. It's easily the best $60 Mattel figure in my collection. Take that however you like. :monkey1

Seriously though, I have to admit that I'm pleasantly surprised at how much I'm enjoying this figure. The paint apps are frustrating, the suit is far too dark of a blue, the body is a little wonky and the cape feels kinda flimsy BUT I get an undeniable kick out of seeing that unmistakable Reeve "S" on the shelf.

We all know that HT will eventually destroy this thing, but make no mistake, for $60, this is a damn fine Christopher Reeve Superman figure. Nice job, Matty.

Plus, the crystals and control panel work wonders for the nicely-done-but-kinda-boring Hot Toys Jor-El...

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

You know what? I actually think he is a good low cost figure. The sculpt is a bit soft, the body isn't the best, and the blue is off...but he isn't that bad. I would own him in a sec if didn't know that HT was coming out with one of their own. Good pic

I know this wasn't meant to be funny, but I got a good laugh from it. No harm meant but, soft sculpt, body isn't the best, blue is off, boots suck, deformed waist, etc. but it's not a bad figure.:wink1: It's not a bad tree it just needs a little love.
