I received my mail away Rocket Firing Fett today and . . . it looks like someone sat on it. The card and bubble are completely mangled. Probably the worst damage to a toy/card/box I've ever seen.

I know I'm not alone in this, thousands of other people seem to have the same problem. I kind of regret sending out for so many when the results will probably be the same.

Man, am I glad I bought that Wave 2 assortment case from Hasbro with the free mail away Fett at Celebration V. Perfect condition, zero problems. I feel sorry for the rest of you guys that have to participate in the actual mail away. It looks like it's going to be impossible to get mint figures.

Yeah I actually contacted Hasbro customer service about it and they sent me a return postage to send it back for a replacement. I figured what's the use since the replacement would probably arrive in the same condition or worse. I did tell Hasbro they need to send these in clear protective cases like they did for VOTC. They said they would forward my concerns to the marketing department. I'm afraid it won't do any good on the Fett promotion but maybe they will change it on future promotions. Unfortunately this was the only mail-away figure I really wanted after waiting 32 years for it only to end up looking like it was run over by a truck.

Really? Tons of people have received this message,

"Thank you for contacting Hasbro, Inc. regarding the Star Wars Exclusive Rocket Firing Boba Fett. We are sorry to learn the packaging from your promotional figure was damaged.

Regrettably, we are unable to exchange the figures for you due to the packaging being crushed. Hasbro, Inc. is not responsible for issues with USPS mailings and we do not guarantee the packaging. I sincerely apologize for this unfortunate experience.

Thank you for your understanding.
"

Good for you then. Maybe they've changed their policy on the damn things. I really find it hard to believe that these sustained this much damage from just getting mailed out. Every single one seems to be damaged.

The one I have is REALLY horrible. Like you said it looks like it was run over multiple times with a truck. The figure was pressed in all the way towards the card and hell, the mailer was open. What would I have done if it fell out?

Hopefully this issue is resolved. If not thankfully I have a mint one to fall back on. I know I'm not sending out for anymore unless we see some results.

Here is the response I got:

Thank you for contacting Hasbro, Inc. regarding your Rocket Firing Boba Fett.

I am sorry to hear of your recent experience and appreciate your bringing this matter to our attention. I apologize for any disappointment this may have caused.

Please be assured that I have shared your concerns with the product team. We will be pleased to arrange an exchange for you.

To help facilitate the process, a postage paid mailing label has been sent via email from [email protected] for you to use in returning your Boba Fett figure to us. Simply package up your return and place the mailing label securely on the package. Drop it off at the Post Office window and it’ll be on its way back to us.

Once the product is received at our returns facility, we will send a new replacement product.

That's why I'm even more glad I jumped on the deal at Celebration where you bought a full case of the latest wave of Vintage figures and they gave you the Rocket Firing Fett for free. Even the white mailer box is mint.

Sucks to hear about these crushed boxes. Seems pretty much rampant. I'd say 9 out of 10 are coming in banged up.

With all the hoops we jump though to get a "free" figure (5 figures @ $8 each + $6.99 each) we are paying almost $50 for a figure that is delivered crushed and Hasbro's points fingers at USPS and says "Not our fault." That's B.S. Their packaging is much worse than Sideshow.

For $6.99 s&H these should be mailed First Class and not bulk rate. That's a big part of the problem right there.

Not really, it's more the thin white mailer boxes. The cards barely fit in them so of course they are bent, dinged and crushed. There is no protection. AT ALL. They might as well ditch the mailer boxes and slap a stamp on them and ship them naked. Seriously there's no difference. They need bigger mailer boxes made of harder cardboard and protective cases or sleeves.

Yeah, the boxes do suck for shipping... but the fact is that bulk rate mail is literally treated differently than first class all the way from sorting to delivery. And it spends 2-3x longer in the system getting to you, too.

All they had to do was put them in those clear protective clamshells like they did with the Lucas Stormtrooper mail-away during VOTC and problem solved. Those plastic cases probably cost Hasblo about .10 cents each. My Lucas Stormtrooper arrived mint in box.

It's like Sideshow ditching the larger shipping boxes with styrofoam protection and going back to the smaller boxes without them. Dented boxes anyone?

Sorry to hear about all of the smashed packages for the mail-away...
The last mail away I did with Hasbro was the Crystal Skeleton one from the Indy line...got two, and while neither arrived in what I'd call "mint" condition, they were "okay" considering they were sent via regular mail...

Back to SW....finally broke down and picked up a couple "Vintage" figures today...been trying to resist and get off the Hasbro train but...

It was hard to resist seeing ROTS characters on "vintage"-style cards...kinda cool actually.

I like the cardbacks showing figures in past packaging...gives a fun edge to the card for collectors...

To people scratching their heads at Hasbro for not putting this mail away figure in the old VOTC cases well, because this new TVC line does not fit in those cases, the bubbles on these new cards have a lip that sticks out at the bottom.

These actually just fit the standard SW cases that Hasbro has been selling for years (online and at cons) just fine. I've put all of mine in them so far. No problems at all.

Mine came crushed as well. Very disapointing since this is the single figure in my collection I wanted to display on the card.

Here is my repaint of the Vintage Collection Jabba. I have some information about it on my blog.

Nicely done, icruise!

Just picked up a few of these "vintage" carded figures...it's kind of a kick seeing a prequel movie title on these old-style cardbacks.

I couldn't resist...I had to open the magna guard.

And WOW! What a fantastic figure! When the Hasbro Team knocks one out of the park, they really knock it!

It's a rare thing that cloth works at this scale, but coupling this with a much better material for the figure's body and limbs, making the body multiple pieces to add detail and creating really effective articulation and we get a really good figure of these menacing henchmen, er, droids of the Separatist Droid General...

I'm trying to cut back on figures...but Hasbro's making that really hard with great figures like this! Really good job here, especially at this scale....

I'd love to see Sideshow take a crack at this one and see if the results would be as effective at 1:6 scale....
