These posts are awesome. Great pow-wowing, guys . I have the collectors' edition of Alien, with the director's cut, but haven't heard of this original egg creation method. Is it in one of the special featurettes, because no deleted scene in the film seems to have it.

EDIT: Did some research and watched the cocooned Dallas scene again. So... Brett becomes an egg? That does seem creepier in a way. But the question is wouldn't he make a larger egg than the normal ones found in the derelict ship? Is there not supposed to be any consistency or what?

That's probably why the scene was deleted, it didn't make sense. It's a movie...

Well, it's still a creepy-ass idea. I like it. There are a bunch of "ultimate workprint" scenes from the movie on YT. Disturbing stuff (Brett's extended death, Parker's death, etc.). Wish the Director's Cut came with those.

I guess it all boils down to this. The Alien is a twisted abomination of the human form. After all, its creation seems to depend on human beings. So my question is... how did it all start? Where did the first Alien come from? If this prequel (and I understand Scott's doing it ) can answer this question, it'll be a hell of a film. Finally a movie that'll give the franchise a good name again. Other kids my age have only seen AVP-R and judge Alien and Predator based on that garbage. Little did they know it all started with an A-list movie in '79.

The space jockey was the original host, but the eggs or whatever form of parasite the original alien was came from something else.
But then what did that come from and so on.

Like our own evolution ther must be a chain of events.

Depends how surreal and detailed the prequel is going to get as to wheter we finally get an answer

I am truly releaved that Scott is going to be handling the production of these films. I don't really want him to remake the original, but that's legitimately up to Dan O'Bannon and him; plus I'm sure Giger would love to make the ALIENS the horrors they were before.

I'm not especially keen on a remake of the original ALIEN; but as long as they don't try to cut Cameron's QUEEN out of the equation I won't fight any decisions they make.

Actually, I think O'Bannon was highly overrated, not least of all by himself...
His original script isn't very good, the dialogue sucks, the names are terrible and it just doesn't seem very well written.
I think Giler and Hills rewrite helped a lot, and obviously Ridley Scott's vision.
Not to say he was a hack, after all, the original idea came from him, but I think without all the others it would've been a pretty mediocre film.

I was hasty with this post. There was this coin toss in my head over whether he was still alive, and it came up heads, so... I just went with it

Ridley Scott has learned so much from his directing career, I am just truly looking forward to High School students leaving the theatre in utter disgust or absolute terror. The original made people ill.

We need a new, extended Chestburster scene. It needs to snake out of him while he's still alive, and his face should be covered in bloody vomit. It should slither right over his nether regions as it slowly crawls into an air vent. We need a nice close-up of its silvery grimmace.
As little CGI as possible, I might add...

That's what made it creepy, man! First movie shocked everyone to their core, and not because of gore, but because of concepts. Ridley needs to tap into that again, and having Giger work his magic would be an absolute plus. Prequel would be great, as it would answer a lot of questions about the original film's ideas. But hopefully it'll still leave some stuff to the imagination, just to maintain that edge.

Now I wonder... had they kept the deleted scenes in the theatrical release, what would've happened in terms of sequels? Stuff like this my head spin, but it just goes to show you that Giger and Ridley's creation is far different from the others. You might even go as far as to say it's a different creature altogether.

Dan was a very,very talented guy. The script was originally conceived as a Corman picture. In fact they got a deal with Corman and if it wasn't for a very timely bit of intervention from a mutual friend of Shusett's and Hill's, Alien would have been a very different movie. His influence on the finished film went way beyond writing the script. If it wasn't for Dan Giger, Moebius and Ron Cobb would not have been hired. Let's not forget that he also directed one of the best zombie movies ever made.

I am hoping there is a certain level of "surreal" in the movie. I would like Scott to bring Giger back, but thinking about it there are plenty of great surreal artists out there that could also be tasked with the artistic direction of the new film.

Also, I love the fact that Scott is in charge of the prequel(s), but I admit I'm scared since his movies have been Hit n Miss lately. The Robin hood movie this summer was not what I expected from Scott.

I haven't been massively fond of any of Ridley's films since Gladiator to be honest...oh wait Black Hawk Down was good. But thats it. Anything since I can't even remember.

I'm kind of with Celtic on this one, that scene is commonly referred to in that manner, and the Alien in general is a very invasive creature, a sexualized biomechanoid.

I think its in the extras of alien.

The alien raped lambert as you see the tail go between her legs and the alien is heard chuckling and then finally finishes her off.

The whole alien concept and most of gigers work is related to sex, some more subtle than others.
Just google giger sex and you will see for yourself.

Well, it's not definitive that the alien raped her, but it certainly was the intention to leave the question in the mind of the viewer: did the alien just rape Lambert?
After all, she was left naked and the tail was shown going up between her legs suggestively (even though those are Brett's legs).
You have to remember that there is always this uncertainty about the alien, about just how much of Kane is in it... why did it apparently know the ship so well? How did it figure out to go into the Narcissus? Why was it so brutal with Brett and Parker and yet there was no sign of violence or blood when it took Dallas? Why was Lambert left naked? Maybe Kane hated Brett and Parker's guts and had the hots for Lambert...

The idea that it (the alien) took traits from its hosts, not only physical but also mental and emotional, was a major part of the movie. That and the entire sexual/rape angle. After all, Kane is basically raped by the facehugger. Not only that, he is left pregnant and dies giving birth...

In the prequel I'd like to see Giger's biomechanical landscapes. I think the aliens are artificial organism because they can infect different alien species!
