:horror:horror:horror

This is the only thing that would literally have me running away like a little girl. They can get to be as big as a face hugger :panic:......:thud:

Damn, that is one big ugly b$tch!! I'm not gonna lie, I will be running away too.

Theres all sorts of myths that surround that species of spider. Not true of course. Some along the lines of they can run up to 30 mph, howling like a banshee with its front legs sticking out to try and grab prey and jump 3 feet into the air. Regardless I wouldn't want to exactly cuddle with one :lol

Its actually 20mph :panic:............for those of you too lazy to read, heres a testimony from a soldier in Baghdad:

"From someone stationed in Baghdad. He was recently bitten by a camel spider which was hiding in his sleeping bag. I thought you’d like to see what a camel spider looks like. It’ll give you a better idea of what our troops are dealing with.

Enclosed is a picture of his friend holding up two spiders. Warning: not for the squeamish! This picture is a perfect example of why you don’t want to go to the desert. These are 2 of the biggest I’ve ever seen. With a vertical leap that would make a pro basketball player weep with envy (they have to be able to jump up on to a camels stomach after all), they latch on and inject you with a local anesthesia so you can’t feel it feeding on you.

They eat flesh, not just suck out your juices like a normal spider. I’m gona be having night mares after seeing this photo!"

I've seen this picture before, and it always makes my skin crawl... But like you mentioned, it's actually TWO spiders. But STILL, those are HUGE and I wouldn't wanna come across one of them either! :panic:

the title is kinda misleading...

its nothing a soldier's combat boots cant handle, IMO.

:lol.........so is the picture actually now that I look closer, the close up make them look larger when in reality, this Spider is the biggest and scariest of them all

Solifugids are relatively harmless. There are a lot of myths surrounding them due to their frightful appearance. The picture makes them look really huge, but they don't really get that big, it's actually two of them together and they're very close up to the camera, which makes them look like they're the size of the soldier's leg in the background.

This is a freaky creature. The mantis shrimp.

:lol @ that dog. Hes like pfftt........i could take that shrimp in one bite. Insects and Insect relatives are by far the scariest living creatures on earth imo. They're small, but very intimidating. I dont want no part of any of em. Its funny though how the biggest Spider in the world hasnt ever killed a human before.

This video is kind of violent, and a waste of a mouse. CAUTION

One of the myths is that it is a spider. It is actually in the scorpion family. Another is that they bite humans. The odds that there was a soldier who got bit by one of these that was in his sleeping bag as the story insists is pretty remote. Not impossible...but a one-in-a-million kind of thing.

They have no venom. They CAN get fairly big. I have seen pics (possible fakes, but who is to say) that showed one in Henderson Nevada that was about the size of a 7 or 8 year old boy's foot. I have seen them at about 2 inches in my yard here in the Victorville CA area...soI am not too sceptical about the rare huge one.

They are pretty fast. Another name for them is Wind Scorpion because of their speed.

They are not the monster some make them out to be.
