The Raiders PF has been a somewhat of a crusade for me - though I was overjoyed with the proportions and certain details it nonetheless suffered from a terrible paintjob as standard.
I loved the conceit of Trevor's sculpt. For almost thirty years of hit & miss with Ford's likeness (the only decent one being the original large size Han Solo IMHO) not only does this one capture him completely but it even exhibits the Ford smirk which forced my hand between choosing this or the 1/6 figure, making it my first (& last) quarter scale...
But what of the inaccuacies??

I started small by making a small popper for the whip using the remains of a battered one from a real whip. I painted the jacket zip silver, filled the bag with cotton pads to bulk it out then broke out the cotton to flatten the jacket collar. By this time mfischer's excellent belt kits were made available so they were ordered. I also made a brass tip for the web belt from a bottle top. Not wanting to have the figure scene-specific I also substituted the idol for the gun - it looks fantastic in the open hand as its typically laid-back Ford. A few weathering touches using fullers plus some boot polish and I was happy.

The question remained about the paintjob - the only person I thought could handle it based in the UK was Darren Carnall but he only did 1/6 and besides, surely he was too busy?

Darren to my suprise accepted. It may have taken the best part of a year but when Indy came home he instantly became the centrepiece of my collection. At last the finish was worthy of Trevor's masterful sculpt. My sincere thanks to Darren for coming through and being a consummate professional...

Looks amazing. Now you just need to paint the jacket.

The paint job is way nice ... you should upgrade the jacket, a paint job that nice deserves all the best!

Here is a before and after pic with a real goat skin jacket, then the Sovereign Studio 1/4 scale jacket:

I agree with FSOHK. You DEFINITELY need to get the Sovereign Studio 1/4 scale jacket to really add the crowning piece to that stellar custom. I have one on the way that's the LAST piece I need to complete my custom repainted by Les, belt and holster rig by MFisher, sidebag - MFisher and faststreets...

Martin, thank you so much for the lovely words. You don't know how lovely it is to read comments like that about something you've sent out to a customer. I'm just so glad you like him!!! :bow

(after painting yours I'm so jealous of anyone who has one of these... I wish I had the room to display one)

I have to say once again that this sculpt (most of them really) from Trevor Grove is just amazing. So realistic. It was a pleasure to paint.

Hi guys-

Many thanks for the compliments and observations, in total agreement about the Sovereign jacket but I'm sure I asked for a link to and price before and couldn't find any details...
And what of the fact the arm has to be broken to acommodate it? Any tips...?
Hook me up here....

If you don't have the money, or over a year to wait for it, acrylic paints and some standard weathering is a nice option.

Not nearly as gorgeous as Faststreet's----but a vast improvement over the factory green.

You did a REALLY, REALLY GOOD JOB on that jacket repaint, the color is exact!!!

I would never say (or write) anything that I didn't mean ... and even if I did, you would most likely dump your drink on your computer and say: "Cheatin' _____."

Really? With his handle-bar 'tache? :rotfl

Hey Tony, that may be my fault a bit with the photo I took...Sort of accentuates the 'tache. Once I get the new jacket from Shawn and really jazz him up to perfection, I'll try to get some WAY better shots of this repaint.

As for the kind words Josh, that is INCREDIBLY cool to hear, especially coming from you. Les did an amazing job of getting the Raiders tan and stubbly beard from the opening sequence to PERFECTION...even some sweat lines are there...

Trust me Tony, if you saw this one in person, you would be in AWE!!!
