Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

FANTASTIC !!!! Just got my painted Jayne sculpt back from Small Studios, and I LOVE it. I'll have photos on this thread late Sunday. It would look great next to your Mal MM.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

I'm REALLY hoping to get my head in this week. I didn't even get the satisfaction of having the casting in my hand for a few days since I sent it right to GDB. Can't wait to give Mal a head....

Marf's masterpiece has me even MORE anxious...

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Thank you all for the kind words :bow I'm still very much learning and it's great to get a positive reaction from folks. Makes me want to try harder at getting better.
I won't be able to paint Zoe for now, because I need to get a body for her. Until then I can't dremel the head.

You've made a fantastic job of those ! I thought you said that you couldn't paint ? :lol Some very clean work there. What type of paint do you use - if you don't mind me asking ? Keep going, you're doing very well !

I use a mix of different acrylic paints but mostly it's Amsterdam Acrylics and Winsor&Newton Artists' Acrylic.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

After much waiting and dreaming, I have my first Firefly figure finished. Thank you Trevor for the wonderful sculpt and thank you Josh for the marvelous paint job. I still think my Jayne would look great next to MM's Mal.

That looks awesome! I'd love to know the recipe... especially the jacket.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

That looks fantastic man:bow They would make quite the pair indeed! That jacket is awesome...I may have to try and bash some more of the crew when I wrap a few of my other customs. I would love to hear the recipe as well :duff

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Hey guys, if you know anyone who owns the SSC Jeb Stuart figure, he comes with a LeMat pistol that could be recast, then modified for an accurate Jayne gun.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

I'm SPEECHLESS! Jeez...that is one KILLER Jayne. The paint, the outfit, the accessories...I'm thrilled by it! This is honestly the reason it's so fun to do 1/6 scale sculpts....seeing figures that are as successful as your Jayne and Marf's Mal... It's the perfect assemblage of hard work and artistry!

Thanks for posting the pics...Jayne kicks SO much ass...

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Yup. that Jayne is amazing! Great, great work. :joy

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all those nice words about my Jayne, but I just bashed the parts togther. The real praise goes to the artists that made it all possible, Stevo, Chad, Josh and Trev. These are the guys that deserve the praise. I just assembled the parts.

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

There is a lot of talent on display here! Trevor, I love my sculpts and will be checking to see who I can trust to paint them.

The finished paint apps and figures are mind-blowingly good, absolute perfection and even if somebody had made Firefly figs, I doubt seriously they would come anywhere near the excellence of these!

Keep the pics coming and thanks for sharing!! :banana

Re: Trevor's Firefly Sculpts

Man I really need to take some pics in natural light. These midnight-in-the-basement-trying-not-to-use-a-flash pics just don't really do this guy any justice!!
Thanks to everyone who made all this possible! Trev, GDB, Stevo, SMcG and Amy. :)

I still want to lengthen Stevo's belt since it's on the second hole right now. Other than that I'm quite happy with him! I don't have any glue so his head is just balancing on the adapter. Once glued I can futz with the shirt a bit hide the joint. :)
