Why not leave the belt off for 5 - 7 days? just to see.

More importantly. Where did the body arrive from? the new location Hot Toys is now at? Since Rory's body has went awol.

Eric (toys2) got back to me. For whatever reason I have to send it directly to Hot Toys in HK ($50) Then i'd assume i'd have to pay duty once the replacement arrives ($20) So no thanks.

I'm just about done with this figure and it's ef'n greasy abs. Thanks for nothing HT's. Perfect timing though, I haven't bought a single figure since this DX so this is a good time to step back even further. Aside from my T2 Arnold I have nothing else on order.

You won't see me placing preorders much anymore. This hobbys become quite the joke imo.

Why's he doing that. I thought he was going to deal with Hot Toys for his own customers.

Voo, I assume you read what happened to Rory for sending it back? which is a very shady move on Hot Toys part.

Oh my God, poor guy! That's about as bad as it can get, I sure hope they have their mail redirected. That just plain sucks .......... what a nightmare this figure has been.

Even if I were to send it directly to HK there's no way I will now.

I had hopes that the replacements would be a cure but I guess not. Not 100% anyway. This is sad for a piece that cost that much. I wonder how Sideshow will handle it when their shipment comes in?

After all of this mess I picked up a Medi so I can at least have a decent looking bats. It's just sad...

Do you mean DCD? Sideshow doesn't sell TDK products.

Yes, thank you for the correction. I just wonder how many people will start complaining once they come in and are currently ignorant to the issue (I'm sure there are some out there) and how DCD will handle the complaints and possible returns.

EDIT: Awesome sig and avatar btw...

Doubt they'll do anything. I feel most sorry for the Comic shops who'll get shafted with this piece. No place to return it to (DCD will likely send them the HT route) and no customers willing to buy it.

Now that's a bit much don't you think?!

Don't take out your frustration with this figure on all acton figures! They still deserve your love! :monkey2

Why can't you just return it to Toys2. It is a defective toy. Toys'2 should take it up with the manufacturer. In fact, unless people are buying directly from Hot Toys (if that is even possible), they should all go back to the shops and distributors. If that happened, there would have probably been a fix months ago. Is this the way things are normally done in Asia? It does not seem fair or right for that matter.

I sent my faulty body to HT's new location but on the parcel I got yesterday it was their previous address that was written on it.

Has anybody cut this figure up just to find out where the oil is coming from? It can't be producing oil on its own can it?
From what I've read the upper costume is now separate from the pants.
Is the oil coming from the costume or body underneath?
Is the oil the result of the costume breaking down chemically?
If it the result of the costume breaking down due to the friction with the body underneath it should show signs of wear.

Sorry for the questions. I have the original TDK costume and never got this since it's basically the same figure but I have been trying to get the body from E-bay (for a very low price) just to cut it up and see the problem first hand but they are still selling for 80 and above.

It's coming from the rubber, either from within the rubber being drawn to the surface or some sort of chemical reaction, but you can feel the back side of the shirt and find it dry, so it's not something from under seeping up through it.

You're not going to find one below $80. There are a few that have gone for around that but nothing lower. Read back a few pages about the rubber and material and there's the possible problem.

Anyway...

If environment is a possible cause of the oil. Has anyone tried putting something like a humidifier to maintian a good moisture level in the room. Or a fan to keep the room nice and cool?? Just some thoughts. maybe you need to find a way to keep the environment hospitable for the ever so fragile DX Batman.

Even if it's environmental, it's still a flawed design. My v1 TDK figure doesn't leak under the same environmental conditions as the DX. The make of the rubber used in the DX has problems and they should have just abandoned it after the international shipments and switched to something more reliable.

Plus the v1 is still in good pliable condition even to this day. Still soft and stretchy.

Still not a big deal to me and I still think he's the best action figure ever made. I think for every post moaning there ought to be one from the side that says this just isn't that big of a deal. Mine still sits on the shelf looking badass with his slightly discolored abs.

He hasn't melted, caught on fire or given me any strange diseases. I think we all ought to relax a little here and keep perspective. God, I have more oil on my skin. :lol

I have no clue where's it's coming from and I really thought hard about it. The only thing I figured out for sure is that (at least with mine) if you don't wipe off the oil then more doesn't come. Every time I've cleaned mine the same tiny amount would return. I don't believe anyone's figure is gushing, there has been some exaggeration I think.
