Baby birds = misers who are too cheap to pony up for high-end collectibles (aka kiddie garbage collectors), not newbs. Regardless of how new the buyer is, fraud is fraud and the ********* listed the item as Hot Toys with a ____ty pic for the auction. As for all this "buyer beware" bull____, it's redundant. 100% of the ____s here spewing that ____ would be crying like tittybabies had this happened to them.

Okay, I understand. I, too, would be pissed. Anyone would be. I was on your side, saying it's also the buyer's fault.
Still, newb or not, some research would be a good idea before unloading $400. That's it. I'm not standing up for anyone here, especially the jerk who falsely listed the item. I'm only saying that the guy who buyed was also partially responsible, as he didn't know what he was purchasing. The pic was crappy, but all of us can certainly tell that's not the HT Scar. Even the buyer could have, had he looked at some pictures of the real thing before.

why would anyone pay 400 bucks for something they obviously knew so little about? I guess maybe it was some poor little kid asking his parents to get it for him or something.

The seller is an assclown.

it is against ebay policy to put other company names in title to get more attention to your auction
the problem with that is they can't really enforce it.
i've seen plenty of mcfarlane 12" preds with "HOT TOYS" in the title.

if you're some kid just starting out in the hobby, you're pretty much screwed there... well, your parents are anyway.

Well, these buyers should really read the description. Maybe if they scrolled down and read the CAPITAL LETTERS clearly saying it's to a link, maybe? Oh, he even said it again the day before it ended.

The only reason anyone bought that is because, well I'll say it, they don't pay attention for squat. True, it sucks for new collectors, but you'd think someone ready to spend hundreds of dollars would bother to read the whole description.
Lordy, lordy, lordy. It's more the buyer's fault in Nam's console example. I actually find it kind of funny, lol. eBay can't do anything about it, which makes sense. The seller fulfilled his responsibility of stating what the winners would get.

Here's how I think that auction must've ended:
(Seller will be known as S, Buyer will be known as B)

S: Congrats! You've won the auction. Here's your item! Lovin' that free shippin' too, I bet. (inserts link to picture)
B: Um... what? No, dude. Where's the console?
S: Didn't you read? The auction was for a picture.
B: ... WHAT!?
S: Hey, whoa! Don't get all aggressive on me. I said it was for a link to the picture in capital letters. Even mentioned it again the day before it ended.
B: But... but... YOU LIE!
S: Um... no, I'm not.
B: I'm going to eBay about this!
S: Dude, I've done nothing wrong. Really. I said everything that needed to be said. They can't do anything, since I clearly stated what the winner would get.
B: ... sniffle, sniffle. WHY!?!?!?!?! Why didn't I read the darn description? Why??
S: I know, right? Jeez, what a bummer. Happens to people all the time, heh heh. Well, on the bright side, thanks for the $400, friend :).

Am I the only one who got a kick out of that auction? I mean, c'mon. True, the seller is a jerk, but the buyer really needs to wise up. Actually, not even that. Just scrolling down to finish reading the description would suffice.

Just so you guys know, this type of ____ happens all the time on EbaY:

https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290413618567&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123

I asked him if it was real:

His reply:

That's pretty funny. Sucks to be the guy who bought it.
This is why I take about 2 weeks to think over if I want to deal with anyone seller on ebay for my collectibles. Complete paranoia for being scammed Even if it's a BIN at a good price I'll read and read the details and often wait until someone else has bought the item and left feedback for it to make sure he's actually got it.
Never had any bad experiences really on ebay and I'm seen some pretty obvious scams from time to time but nothing that good.

ya thats false advertising.he selling a crappy pred, and he lists it as one of the cool ass hot toys preds.thats like selling a honda and saying its a lexus.

I sent a report. Couldn't take it anymore. Hate these f___ers. What a jerk this guy is.

Seriously. That's just too ballsy for the guy to completely admit it when you ask him a question. Like he has no conscience or the need to feel any repercussion. Screw that! I saw scammers like that should get locked up and have all their money taken away. That will teach them a lesson!

Damit. This jerk off ebay id "ozzy789" claims not not have recieved this 5 weeks after I sent it. It went to Russia from Cali and it was like $30 to ship it with tracking so I didnt. I hate to admit it but I will never ship to Mexico/Brazil again nor Russia! Mexico's postal system is just as bad as there cops. Block this b**CH ozzy789

But to think where your figure could be now! Probably some Russian mailman gave your RoboCop to his two-month-old baby daughter. She sleeps with it tucked in bed with her every night and cries when you try to take it away. That's a baby's life you've touched there.

Yep that's the one. I have the set also. They're nice pieces but not for $400 bucks. Well I saw that ebay thread earlier. I didn't think anyone would be dumb enough to bid on it since it's obviously not the HT Scar. The idiot that paid that kind of money without doing proper research on the item deserves to be screwed. It's just like Hairlesswookie's situation where the idiot just threw all these comments about how the figure shouldn't be this or shouldn't be that but in reality everything is just the way they should be. Ah well. That's what scammers look for. Dumb people with too much money. :lol

AT least should as the seller if it is Hot toy before buying. This item can get it easily in SINGPAPORE. pLENTLY and selling at only 50USD. Selling 400USD a bit too much.

Then the kicker. Paypal sides with the buyer, refunds the money, closes the seller's account and since they're connected to ebaY, the seller gets banned from EbaY for listing fraudulent auctions and listing violations. So what lesson is learned?

I agree that the buyer should assume some of the responsibility, but the seller deserves to get butt____ed for the intentionally misleading/fraudulent auction.

Technically, the seller in that particular case might actually make it safe. Afterall, he did his part (even though the auction as a whole was ridonkulous).

So yeah, the auction was an intentional scam, but it seemed to play off peoples' unattentiveness. Whatever the outcome, like you said, the blame isn't just on one of them.
