GSC tick me off because even though the box says "No Trans Fats", if you look on the ingredients list there they freakin' are.

I think the reasoning behind that is that the trans fat that still exists within some of the cookies is so small that it's almost non-existent (obviously it's still in there though, so not sure why they are always billed as being free though).

Of course this is what was relayed to me while I was still working for my local Girl Scout council. I was also told that there was no way around having some kind of trans fat in some of them due to the melting process for the chocolate (orrrr something like that...its been a couple of years since my Girl Scout days, ha!).

If it's under one gram of trans fat per serving, they are legally allowed to say 0.

Wow, i know here in Canada pretty much everything is listed even if its 0.2g of trans fats, it has to be shown.

I don't eat crappy mircowave popcorn anymore mainly because its so high in fat/trans fats, i buy the seeds instead and pop them in a pot coated with olive oil, its so much more healthier to have it this way and tastes way better.

WOW uummm should I not list any more recipes (and just let this thread die a natural death)? I have some for every cookie and only listed them because I was asked to, but uuumm well it seems to be ticking some people off so I guess I'll stop unless I am asked for more.

As far as I know it is listed within the nutritional facts on the box, but since it's under the legal limit allowed they put that it's trans fat free. I believe the trans fat only exists within the cookies that have chocolate in them though...of course I could be wrong on that one since it's been a while since I've picked up a box of cookies.

and WAAAAAY overpriced...

Well, yes, they are pricey but one must remember that each box bought is supporting that troop along with ALL girls within the local council in which you purchased your cookies. Just some examples of what the money goes toward would be summer camps, year round programs (that range from outdoor activities to sleepover events, to art programs and much more). Yes, some of the money does go back to the cookie baker companies and yes some money does go to pay for those who are on staff with local councils (which are all there in support of troops and all men and women within organization).

Not that I'm saying any of these things to convince people to buy cookies...far from it. Just getting out there a little bit of info that some may not realize. :D

Annnnd I suppose my Girl Scout advocacy is over for today....maybe, ha!
