not entirely true, last week my fiend got RROD and we spent the day destroying it in his back yard. he just got it a month before. now he has a PS3, like me! lol he still isnt happy about the 300 down the toilet but we realli enjoyed desroying that sucker

The news ones don't have this problem correct?

Been rocking a Call of Duty version since November, and haven't had any problems at all (it's much quieter than the older ones too).

Just curious, but why didn't he just call microsoft for a replacement? I did that 4 times with my 1st generation 360 (yes, it died that many times :lol ). Do you not get the same warranty outside of the US or something?

You do realize that Microsoft has a 2-year warranty on all Xbox 360 consoles, and that they renew that warranty every time they send you a new or refurbished model, right? I've replaced my 360 four times since they were first released, and I have yet to pay a single cent for any of those replacements.

Maybe it's not too late to return the pile of broken plastic and circuit boards, and claim, "I don't know what happened, it came that way."

i thought about although there's mw2......

did u pick up bf2?

of course... i prefer battlefield games over modern warfare. i know, that's a sensitive subject for some. but battlefield games have always led the way in multiplayer (imo).

either way, give it a try.

well my 360 has some life in it afterall...it's working again but louder than the usual noise....although when I install the game to the HD it's quiet. I still may pick up the FF 360 though, right now I have to delete a game to install a game b/c the 20 GB HD isn't enough. I don't trust this one to last till the next system they put out so I might as well get the FF one b/c of the 250 HD, 2 controllers and the fact it comes with a game for only $100 more than the 120 GB one. I'll probably just sell the game and the faceplate to recoup some of the cost.

I wish they would release a Street Fighter 360 console but I did see if I wait a month I could get the Splinter Cell one so maybe I'll wait for that one, although I like the white system more.

Prolly because the story about breaking it in the backyard is made up, but sounds "cool" on the interwebnets.

Seems stupid to me. I guess taking it back to the store or contacting MS about a warranty claim was out of the question.

Congrats Wook! :rock

I called M$ and they said they would replace my system for free. It's like my 4th or 5th one and it's been 2 years since the last one so I'll take it.

I'm still going to get another one though with a larger HD.

Alright my system just went down. Hadn't really played it in 3-4 weeks, finally decided to finish up Mass Effect 2 and the problems started. First it froze on the menu (new, load, dlc, network) with white lines up and down the screen. Second time I got into the game after the load and it showed a white checkerboard type pattern across it. Then it worked for awhile then started up again. Now the red ring shows up.

I think I have had this replacement since 07 since it died out a week before Lost Planet was supposed to be out (had gotten it early). So Im guessing its passed the microsoft warranty now.

i was about to fill out the form online since I hate talking to people on the phone, but wanted to know for sure if they were gonna be charging me. If they are then it might end up not worth it.

 Yours was past warranty and they're replacing it? Really? I guess I'll give them a call.

If they say you have to pay for the fix, tell them you'd rather just buy a PS3 instead of spending the money for a refurbished unit. They'll replace it free of charge. My cousin did this in early '09 and MS fixed it under warranty.
