Sticks, your teepee reminds me of a creche!

What's a creche?

Actually, I did see a creche at Goodwill that I was almost tempted to get, to convert them into apes...but there's something more Ape-pealing to me about making a Christmas creche with my Sideshow apes...

What's a Christmas creche?

Burke is still being massaged. It's so frustrating when I want him to look just like Burke.

For someone who doesn't really like humans, you sure have a lot time invested in ol' Burke. You sure have lots of patience.

Heya IM! I was beginning to get worried about you.

I've noticed him absent also.

Angel I can't wait to see how the tribunal will look painted up. It's so exciting! You're at the homestretch now.

One thing is for sure, it's got to look better than the flat black paint. I painted it flat black about 18 months ago. yikes!

Yes, Angel, I am spending lots of time with this Burke. But I want to see him done and look better than the fugly one Ada made.
Wow--18 months ago? Are you serious? That WAS a long time ago.

Guys...I know nobody gives a hoot but I do. I have found the secret to reversible cables in knitting!! Just knit cables on the reverse side of your pattern. Duh. Anyway, it's taken me years to figure this out. Last night, when I was reading an article about reversible cables, it clicked and it was an epiphany.

Here's a photo of a creche. Imagine Zira, Cornelius and a baby Milo...with the three apes from the tribunal as wise apes...and my ape angel. It will be fun.

Angel, I did watch 2001 space odyssey too once a long time ago. I didn't really appreciate it, since I was still in highschool. I only liked it because of the familiarity of the music.

Kfog--here are the humans I have made. I don't understand why Burke looks so pinheaded on a body...maybe the liquid plastic shrank a little when it cured?

I should try to add the actual Burke sculpt on a human body and see it for my own eyes. The other two plastic heads are there for sizing purposes.

Hi Jess! I think that the likeness of the sculpts are great. Have you noticed that Dodge is shorter and also has a smaller head than Taylor and Landon. I have been looking for a tanned narrow body to put my Brent sculpt on. I guess a normal dml/dragon 12" body would suffice since I would match him up against a Taylor Sideshow figure which would be larger in comparison (ala cage fight scene in beneath).:banana

Well that sounds like good news about Dodge because when the liquid plastic cures, it shrinks some, and I think that's what happened with Burke.

Guys today I found fabric for Escape Zira's vest and long skirt, which I will sew for myself. Whoot!! I still haven't encountered the jacket material...but I am always on the lookout.

Jess, I saw that you started a thread about the Hot Toys Ape Sapien. I have the figure and he is AMAZING!!!

So... is your interest in this figure somehow... "ape" related?:naughty

I love that figure, PZ--Abe Sapien. Too bad I am unemployed, or I would buy it. Someone on a costuming forum needed a photo of the back for reference...not me. I knew someone here would have one. I didn't know you had one, too...you lucky monkey.

Yeah, I saw that Abe, he looks very cool. He would be my time traveling protagonist in my shorts. :naughty

Don't know if any of you guys are interested, but someone on the Megomuseum is selling EMCE retro apes for $15 plus whatever it costs for s/h. He is based in southern California:

2 Cornelius
1 Zaius
1 Zira

That's cool, but that's just not a great deal. I've been looking for a super bargain. [$15 + shipping is the normal price on eBay.] I've been looking for a real deal on Zaius. I want him delivered for about $10-$12.

Oh! I didn't realize that. I thought they came out at $25, and this was $10 off regular price.

How is the tribunal going? You're keeping me in suspense!!

$15. for all or each?

I'm in search of more gorilla soldiers. Too bad that this line didn't make it. I was really hoping for an Ursus, Urko, Alan, and Peter. Some updated astronauts would have also been very cool.

On a positive note, I noticed that the Star Trek TOS will have new figures added to the line. I hope more aliens, and can't wait to find out who's coming out this year.

$15 for each, sticks.

Doc says that there are no more apes down the pipeline as far as EMCE. Only more Trek in 2010, but no news on which characters yet. I haven't been as good about keeping up on what's new since I have a one track mind. It's all about apes for me.

My son is going to be REALLY disappointed that there won't be any more Retro-Mego Apes. He was hoping that they would make figures they didn't make before like a Mutant or Julius. Oh well.

This is coming from a boy who got his first Hot Toys Ape for Christmas from his grandpa. :horror:horror:horror

It was the General. :D

It is too bad about the retro figures. I wish they held back on Cornelius and Zira instead of offering them up front.

PZ- Is the General the only HT gorilla in your and your sons collection? I forgot if you got the soldiers earlier.

I picked up my son from school today and on the ride home I broke the news to him about the cancellation of the Retro Apes. His response surprised me.

"Good... now I can save ALL of my money for the NEXT Hot Toys Gorilla!!!"

Is there another 10 year old boy collecting Hot Toys figures out there? :horror:horror:horror

I have ALL of the Hot Toys Gorillas. I had sort of a garage sale (both at my house and on Ebay) to pay for all of them. I was considering buying another gorilla soldier when he was added to the Gift Card eligibility (lowering the price to $75 shipped) but I hestitated.

Snooze you looze. :banghead:banghead:banghead

:mwaha That is too funny, but ouch - that's an expensive collection for a 10 year old.

I have $68. in reward points from SS but have nothing to use it on. I was thinking about getting their new GI Joe Flint, but even with the discount I still couldn't pull the trigger. The overall look just isn't there, and their price is just too high to justify the purchase. Even at $78. shipped I said NO.

I was looking at a workman's catalog yesterday and was amazed at the prices for real 1:1 construction gear and was put off on how much collector's are willing to pay for plastic and a little cloth. An example: Real knee pads - $5.00, compared to a loose 1:6 knee pads for the same price if not more. :horror
Band saws, drills, real clothes, all cheaper than their 1:6 counterparts. I'm pretty much out of this Hobby unless I find reasonable prices, like the Skeletons from GO Hero for $48. These figures remind me of the Old SS, when the sculpts were solid, and the finished product close to the prototypes. Now adays, the figures seem almost Cartoony. A sign of the Manga figures to come? Count me out. :(

Thanks for asking Jessica - The tribunal is just about done. The coloring is off a bit on the stone chairs and table, so I need to fix that.

Anything is possible Sticks, maybe sometime down the road it'll happen. I hope so. :)

Skeletons from GO Hero??? Is that the "Sinbad" skeletons?
