We are debating over what is a better figure the MEZCO 12" jason pt. 7 vs the Sideshow Pt. 7.

So far the beef of your argument is the Sideshow NAME, and the $$$$ value the SS figure fetches in the secondary market.

When the MEZCO pt. 7 & Sideshow pt. 7 are side by side the eyes are the ultimate equalizer, not a NAME or PRICE.

This is what many of you "FREAKS" fail to realize.

The name doesn't make the product, kinda like Michael Bay & Jerry Bruckheimer films.

Rubber undersuit vs. sculpted skeletal body - rubber suit wins (screen accurate).
Poseability vs. minimal articulation - poseability wins.

It's not an issue of price. If Sideshow's were the same price as Mezco's or Neca's they'd be outselling them 50-1. The reason price comes into play is because there's more VALUE placed in the Sideshow's pieces by the fans (again, look to EbaY for proof). Not based on their initial MSRP, but what people are willing to pay for them on the secondary market because they're THAT DAMN GOOD. I'm all for supporting the better figure even if it isn't Sideshow but in this case, it is. So in the end, when you compare the cheap mess that is Mezco's VII Jason, yeah, he's a decent, cheap substitution if you can't afford to pick up one of Sideshows. But nowhere near comparable in any aspect.

The soft goods shirt mixed with plastic non-posable pants make for a joke of a figure.

I had the Mezco pt7 and sold it because it just looked like crap next to all my Sideshow Jasons.

There really isn't even a comparison. And before I get accused of being a Mezco hater, I will point you toward my Jason LDD which is prominently displayed in my collection. I haven't gotten the new Jason LDD yet, though.

Mezco's Freddy looks like Lady Elaine Fairchilde to me.

Well what us "FREAKS" do realize is plain and simple: YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. If you pay $40 then you get a $40 figure. If you pay $100 you get a $100 figure. See, it's very simple. Mezco ain't up to par, dude. He looks good beside the low end figures he's made with. Sideshow stands on their own. And as far as names go let me put it this way-Sideshow=High end, accurate, great.

I don't like either of them. One has that trademark Mezco cartoony style and the other isn't accurate in proportions to the on-film character. Nor does the torn clothing all that good.

the best one out there is NECA's 18" or 7" figure. i got the 7" when it came out and nothing has surpassed it for me.

Sideshow's Modern Horror line is what got me into collecting Sideshow.Their Jason Part 3 is still, bar none,the greatest rendition of the character ever produce.When you have it in your hands or on display its like having a mini Premium Format...Its that good !!! All the Jason Sideshow made, have the best sculpted face any compagny has ever done.When you hold a Sideshow figure you dont have the feeling its a cheap toy like Mezco and Neca...

And no offense to the Mcf/Neca/Mezco fans --->I.E: The people that are poor. Hey most of us started in this hobby by collecting Mcf and Hasbro stuff, its just that someday,as a collector you are bound to upgrade.

Sideshow = The Elite high end of collectibles.

That is probably my favorite Neca figure but I still like Sideshow's more. I like the detail more. In order for ss to get the proportions right they'd need to make a whole new body and so that's why it's like that. I do love the Neca one though.

So now that we're looking at the figure's headsculpt, clearly, we can see who's biased. And tell you what, it ain't us. What else about my comparison was "flawed," "skewed" and "horribly biased?" I hear that good sir. I mean again I have a few of the NECA 7 inch horror figues Pt. 2 and the remake 18inch and the pt.7 18 inch which both are decent, I also have pt. 3 and 4 and the remake 7 inch figures..and of course the dreaded 12" roto from Mezco but as others have pointed out nothing touches the sideshow Jasons and as Shai stated, Sideshows pt. 3 is by far the most spectacular and still mind blowing of all my jasons even without wrist articulation.

The head sculpt alone just puts me in awe. I mean look at my avatar pic thats my part 3 right there. I think as others have said, you have to have them in your hands to see the beauty of Sideshows jasons as compared other companies jasons.

As for taking off my "sideshow goggles" besides the Jasons and a few of the 1/4 scale Troll busts from LOTR I dont have much other SSC stuff. Just my 2 cents, Im at work gotta go
