Film composers who are members of the Academy are the ones responsible for the nomination process. So it's their peers that are shunning the score from a nom ultimately.

Sucks that they won't get nominated, but it wouldn't win anyway. This is not the type of score that the Academy at large would vote to win.

True enough, but for a comic-base film score to be up there for nomination even I would think is prestigious. Was Elfman nominated for Batman in 1989? I'd imagine that's the last time such a score would have been nominated, anything since then's been just ok in the score department.

Man, that sucks that the score was disqualified. I guess WB can cross it off their "For Your Consideration" list.

Zimmer and Howard's work on BB and TDK deserve to be nominated. I remember before BB came out, reading the score wasn't inspired and no real themes stood out. I had themes in my head leaving the theater. The music played perfectly with the film. The batcave scene when Bruce as an adult rises and overcomes his fear as bats fly around him. I get chills every time that scene plays and it wouldn't be as powerful without the thunderous music. Or TDK with Two-Face, Batman and Gordon. The music is haunting and sad. Really makes the scene as powerful as it needed to be. I cry foul on the Academy!

Would it actually count anyways? I mean, most of the themes are already established from the first one, so it's not quite original.

In any case--I no longer pay attention to the Academy Awards, they're full of douches.

Is no longer an issue now as Return of the King won an oscar for best score with themes used throughout the Trilogy.

Just seems like nitpicking on the industry's behalf which is a shame because it's a wonderfull score, I do prefer Begins, but both are fantastic in their own way.

A hummable theme would have distracted from what was going on in the film anyway, it did what a score was meant to emphasise the situation at hand without being intrusive.

Will probably order it at the end of the month when I get paid again, have a bit too much outgoing. Will be getting TDK when it's released in the UK on monday and have the U.S. Special Edition with BatPod on order, but with it's overseas shipping it wont arrive till mid January

This is similar to the complete score sets for LOTR--higher priced and for the die hard fan. I wouldn't expect to find it at Target or Wal-Mart, etc. Maybe a Borders at full MSRP, but Amazon is almost certainly your best bet.

Best Buy and FYE will be carrying it, I imagine higher end places like that will. Walmart sucks for soundtracks that aren't like pop songs and not orchestral stuff. Circuit City might have it too.

Wal*Mart sucks for music full stop! Every CD they sell is "clean" yet ironically you can buy movies with full, swearing and violence. Games with swearing and violence and not forgetting you can buy a gun! Wal*Mart's priorities are ^^^^ed up.

I added it to my Amazon pre-order I had the feeling I'd only regret it if I let it go

I'd have pre-ordered it if it weren't so easily accessible, I have a mall 10 minutes away from where I work so Tuesday at lunch, off I go to FYE, get their exclusive tin of the DVD and the expanded score and it'll be TDK day for me

The UK doesn't seem to be getting it, nor the batpod special edition so I didn't have much choice unfortunately what we got a was a crappy looking mask case as a special edition. That or some "Art Cards"
