Are you that certain you'll be doing worse under Obama's tax plan than you will under McCain's (especially by the time the cost of your health insurance gos through the roof after McCain's plan guts employer coverage of health care)? And do you have any idea how much of the Federal budget actually goes to entitlement programs, and to which one?

I find it frustrating that there are, somewhere, out there those that can understand the issues well enough to make a credible, honest argument in favor of Republican positions over Democratic positions, but it's rare that I run into them. Knee-jerk, uninformed responses do a disservice to the candidates and policies you support.

I really prefr debates between Libertarians and Socialists anyway. At least both sides usually know what they're talking about. ;D

Thanks CelticP for the life lesson. They are completely mature responses which is why I said them. Just because something said may be brutally honest doesn't make it immature. Immature by definition means inexperienced and undeveloped, for philosophical purposes it means not thinking for yourself. I don't care if you like or respect me. I don't like Obama and that's pretty much that. Apparently you've never seen a session of congress, lots of insults there! congrats on thinking you are mature though.

I suppose. Fox sucks the only people who like what they have to say are right wing folks thats it. There's a reason most of this country rails on those guys. I can't anyone serious that thinks Fox news is the foundation of truth.
 
Either way Shai Hulud is absolutely correct! I come in here to admire the Awesome custom figures out there and see everyone's collections. This is a place to escape from all the crap that goes on in the world. I need to just stay out of these political threads and admire all the great things the site has to offer!
 
Where's this rampant voter fraud people are talking about? The voting takes place Nov 4th right? If you are referring to ACORN, that isn't voting it's registering... big difference. Talk to me when Mickey Mouse shows his id and casts a ballot. Some like to believe that Obama has masterminded some way to steal the election so they'll have their excuses ready when the landslide comes. Bottom line is people will believe whatever they want to believe no matter how wrongheaded or erroneous.

Quoting myself to say if you believe everything any of the news stations tell you then you fall into the same boat. They all twist things however they need to.

Verifying registration becomes more difficult as Election Day approaches. It’s hard in some states, like Wyoming and Maine, that begin voting as early as 40 days prior to the election. It is much harder in a state with a large population, like Florida, which permits voting to begin 15 days before Election Day.

This year, fraud prevention is even more challenging in Ohio, the “deciding” state in the 2004 election. For one week this year — Sept. 30-Oct. 6 — Ohioans were permitted to register and vote on the same day.

Edit: And it's a seriousness enough situation that the FBI is now involved. I honestly don't think this is some ploy dreamed up by the McCain camp to cry about in the liikely case that Obama wins. We're talking about identity theft here, to a very large scale. They've cross referenced some of the social security numbers provided on the registration/early ballots. They are registered to people with residence in other states.

I saw something this morning where people were coming to ohio, establishing residency for 1 month, then registering to vote and voting early, and then returning to their home state.

You think masses of people used fake ids to vote multiple times in multiple districts during this 'register & vote' week, or you think they will try and vote again on the 4th? This isn't the bus loads of homeless people traveling around voting in multiple states theory again is it?

It's already happened. There is already evidence of illegal voting registration forms in Ohio, and since you were allowed to register and vote in same day, I'm assuming there must also be illegal ballots that were submitted and will be counted. The ones that they have caught were silly ones, where people signed up Mickey Mouse, or Duran Duran, or Tony Romo, but I'm willing to bet there are ones that looked more legit and slipped through the cracks. That's what hopefully an investigation by Ohio's Secreaty of State would have shown the public, until the Supreme Court said it wasn't necessary.

And the homeless people thing did happen. I saw the interviews. Homeless people should get a vote too, they're Americans like the rest of us. But the seed of suspicion is planted that if ACORN is willing to stoop to unethical tactics as already proven with admission that they have, what's to stop them from registering a homeless person and getting them to vote early in one district of Ohio and then bussing them to another district and repeating the same act. Does the current ballot system catch and prevent such things from happening? Who knows? that's why an investigatrion would have been useful to ease the fears of those of us on the other side.

And now we're hearing about similar situations in Nevade, Florida, Virginia, etc.

I think it's irresponsible to dismiss this as being just something the McCain people are crying about. This is a serious offense. This is rigging an election, and I thought that didn't happen in a free and democratic country. Like I said, I believe the FBI is investigating it and I'll be very curios to knwo what they find.
 
I certainly agree with you that election fraud is very serious. The American people were already cheated once with the fraud and discrimination that got GWB elected, we don't need another shameful chapter in our history like that one.

Yeah, I don't know all the details of that, except for "hanging chads in FL" and something about popular vote didn't match electoral vote in one state.

But I don't think we've ever seen anything to this degree before.

I heard again that 33% figure. As many as 33% of the early ballots submitted may be fraudulent. Now it's too late and we'll probably never know, because the anonymous ballots have been separated from the envelopes they were mailed in (I think).

Good news in all of this is that my grandpa apparently came back from the dead and is going to vote! Hopefully I get to see him again!
