I wanted to like this show pretty desperately. After pretending it wasn't as bad as it was after the first watch, I watched it a second time, then a third. It kept getting worse each time. I can't understand what some people are talking about when they say they watched it again and enjoyed it more. Sarlaac escape completely botched with an inept old fat guy who makes goofy faces playing the most mysterious and feared bounty hunter in the galaxy.

But yeah, I still hope it gets better. But I've seen it enough times that I know I won't be walking back my opinion of episode one. It sucked and is a disgraceful portrayal of Boba Fett. Which is shocking to me considering how much I enjoyed the first two seasons of The Mandalorian.
That is 100% where I am at...other than I haven't watched it again. Will likely do that over the weekend. Fett giving up his helmet willingly to have it cleaned was the biggest WTF moment for me. His father's helmet, his identity and something he lost for five years and he just hands it over. I remember joking during the trailer that it looked like he was carrying potato chips in his helmet and I'll be darned if he didn't have something in that helmet. I'm just a middle aged Star Wars collector, but if you bring back my Black Series Boba Fett helmet with loose change in it...I'm gonna be really upset... Boba is like "oooh look, monies!"... Ugh.

The best thing that could happen (for the show, not this thread lol) is at the start of the 2nd episode he wakes up in the Sarlacc pit again and we find out that the first episode was all a bad dream. That would be an epic troll job by Favreau if it was to occur. So of course it won’t.

I was just wondering: If they turn this around and knock the rest of the episodes out of the park, is anyone else worried they’ll look a tad hypocritical coming back here to praise it? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Disregard - I forgot where I was for a second there…
Bah. It's not hypocrisy to give credit where credit is due if a situation changes. When presented with new information one must give their position an honest re-assessment.

And if not, one must continue to enthusiastically eviscerate the pop-culture they claim to love. This is the way!

😑

Buff would be a viscous military drone commander!

Soldier: “Commander Buff the drone strike you ordered killed 100 people but the situation has now changed and the intel we have says there could actually be civilians down there should we hold on the next strike!

General Buff: “HELL NO I don’t care if the situation changed i’m sticking to my original feelings it would be hypocritical otherwise so HIT THAT FIRE BUTTON SOLDIER!!!”

LOL

Unless the "new information" that ZE-501 cited turns out to be either (a) the role of BF was recast after episode 1 or (b) Fennec offs Boba in episode 2, I think my original feelings are pretty safe lol...

BTW, how did you go from my being potentially worried I'll look a tad hypocritical to my callously ordering genocide? It's like you want me to be the Boba Fett you know you'll never see. :lol

This episode was the worst thing to happen to SW since AOTC. Actually it may be the worst thing to happen to SW period. It's making me seriously consider wiping all of Mando from my head canon so as to purge even the thought of TM Fett surviving ROTJ.

Hopefully there is something to praise in future episodes.

It can't get any worse right?...

The first two seasons of Mando are cemented in but this casts serious doubt on anything going forward. Season two of The Mandalorian was wrapped up so nicely that I'm fine if that is where the Star Wars franchise ends on screen.

The first episode is best watched with Benny Hill music playing on loop :lol

I dreadfully think about my life choices every time I have trouble sleeping. Which is basically every night. And sometimes randomly during the rest of the day, without needing to have trouble sleeping, to, uh, get in that mood of morbid self-reflection.

It's okay though, I get over it in a snap and go back to worrying about which overpriced dollies I'm gonna buy.

I tend to ramble. In person, in writing; it is a flaw, but what can you do.

God, I wish I could do that. I have figures in my wish list where the motivation behind wanting them amounts to "yeah, I have like 30 issues of this guy's comic book run; gotta have it, I'm in too deep to go back now, gotta commit, gotta get it". It's funny, when I started this hobby I wanted maybe one, two, three figures tops from each property. I would've been happy with a Spider-Man, a Baleman & a Ledger, a Vader and Emperor, you know, the classics. I fantasized about some X-Men and the such, but I had clear plans. Then I started widening the rules, so to speak. Vader became "all the Sith", which became "just the Jedi & Sith" which became "just the Force Users and some supporting characters and some Imperials". Batman became "Bale, Ledger and maybe the Armoury from Nolan, AK Batman, AK Scarecrow, AK Catwoman, the Al'Ghuls, maybe Hugo Strange and Riddler". And so on and so forth. The more I list the less special each figure becomes. But I can't really stop, as I'm now thinking with displays. Ugh, sometimes I find myself wishing for bad casting of my B-List wants so that I can skip a figure. God heard me it seems, and he ruined Kang for me...
Ah the "completionist" problem. Yes, a villain I know all too well. Maybe do a ranking of possessions then find a cut off point. I eventually got to a great point where 1/6th is left, some art prints, 2 busts and a small stack of comics. Plenty of excuses to find, so focus on the reason. Now my focus is Hot Toys. 3rd party doesn't even interest me at this point.

I have laid out a plan for the next couple of years on what I MIGHT get:
Revealed figures: VG Classic SM, Luke Snowspeeder, Batman XE, Mando Shiny, Mando Luke, Carnage
2022 slate: Morbius, Battinson w Batcycle, Defender Strange, Moon Knight
2023: Kang (if he has blue shield over face), Blade, F4, Kraven (if he is close to comic look)

Things can always change, but there is so many properties I could care less about. I can't give into look cool figures, got to stick to the epic figures I have no doubt on and thankfully there is a handful at most in one year. Seems like lately it has slowed down a bit with more content that is crap.
In my case it's because the completionist mindset would drive me mad. These things will keep going after I die. The fact that I'd not get to see "the end" would not sit right with me. So I have to draw the line somewhere. If I decide where to end, then I can make my peace with it. I could still catch the latest Wars show in 30 years, buy a cool collectible I come across, but this completionism of me having entire TBs filled with SW and adding everything as it's released every day, keeping track of my dolly displays, has to end at some point. My time grows increasingly limited as my responsibilities proportionately increase as well. I cannot see a future where I'll have the time to dissect which of my 25 Vader dollies is the best and how this new version blows the previous one out of the water due to the new lifelike eye-holes. Like I've said before, for me this 1/6th collection is a way to close the chapter on most of these things. I stopped properly enjoying them a long time ago anyhow.
Then find joy in selling your stuff on Ebay to other people. Then when what fat you needed to cut off, you will not even think about it again.
Get comixology or pirate pdfs of comics online. Save you a ton ton of space.

Why have 20 variations of multiple characters? Empty that up.

I never ever ever ever thought I would sell my SW Miniatures. But with the EU being ignored and SW staying on the stupid AF path, my anger outweighed my guilt. Sold that stuff and haven't looked back.

Dark Empire Luke signed poster, HT ROTJ Boba, HT ROTJ Luke, HT ANH R2, HT Heavy Mando, Gentle Giant Darth Malak bust and comic collection of Tales of the Jedi/Dark Empire. All the SW I own. AND I HAD A LOT.

I just started somewhere and eventually led to a much more comfortable place.

The sarlaac escape was botched so badly that I can't imagine accepting that as how it really happened. Probably the same with Morrison as Fett, but at least he was handled better in The Mandalorian. Going forward this Fett show may be just about getting a few cool HT figures I want like Cobb Vanth, gunslinger Cad Bane, etc.

Well that's the beauty of it. Just pick and choose.

My personal canon is SW/ESB/ROTJ and then Mando season one and Mando season 2, with episode 5 deleted. In my mind he just found a hologram from some long dead jedi telling him where to take Grogu, and left him a beskar spear too. No need for all that Clone Wars business.

And if it ends on Mando season 2, I'm OK with that, and in my ending, Mando tosses the darksaber away and goes to that backwater planet to go live with that hotass milf. The end.

If the Boba show gets any better, it can be included in my very strict canon as well.

(I still love Dark Empire....I'll have to make parts of that work in the story too, somehow.)

Also if Star Wars ends after season two of The Mandalorian it ends before Twitter commandeers the Star Wars franchise and disappears Cara Dune/Gina Carano and renames the Slave 1 as Firespray. Maybe the Firespray is what this new Fett deserves. The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of The Mandalorian season two as the end🤔
