I wouldn't give them props for doing the bare minimum guys.
But it’s better than flat out ignoring the issue. It shouldn’t have happened in the first place, but at least owning up to an issue is something.

Granted it’s after being called out, but still. Similar issues have happened in the past, and there hasn’t been a real resolution. This is some sort of progress at least.

Maybe this debacle is the wake up call Sideshow needs. I’ve given Sideshow a ton of crap over the years too, and don’t buy many of their products or stick up for them.

Sure, but I still wouldn't praise them for it until they actually improve.

… The only reason anyone buys SSC figures is because Hot Toys are sooo slow at releasing anything.
Not true at all. I own 14 SS 1/6 figures and enjoy them. Some I even bought after owning and selling the “superior” HT versions that I was actually unhappy with. We all like what we like. Not everyone gushes over HT and craps on SS. Sometimes HT falls short and changes things during production that make figures look worse and not better. The difference is, ppl here just accept it and rarely complain with the “it’s not so bad” mentality and life moves on. Like when the paint and casting quality massively dropped on all their releases for about a year or 2 and folks on here were kidding themselves about how HT would never making a mistake like that. But with SS it becomes this huge ordeal. Not the case for this figure as SS blatantly lied about what this figure is, but 9/10 HT gets a pass with collectors on this board when they goof up. It’s a mixed bag and sometimes companies make bad decisions and that really sucks for us collectors. But to me, that doesn’t make every release a bad release. I take each one case by case.

So glad i picked this up back in 2014. At last, price point was closer to actual value.

After watching Jedha, Justin and a few other reviews, i reconsidered my PO for Animated Anakin and Obi-Wan. Will now definitely wait for in hand reviews before splashing the cash on those.

Well, gotta admit, I’m shocked that they’ve sent an apology, admitted the item is faulty and are trying to fix the issue. However, while it might fix the shoulders, there’s nothing in there about the fixing the fingers breaking. I wonder if they’re just sending the joint or the entire arm assembly
There are other issues that has been identified like the flaking paints on the figure and on the cheap looking lightsaber hilts?

They should recall the product. If they're really boasting about "High Standard and "High Quality".

Just received this email from Sideshow:

Dear valued collector,
By now, you have received your General Grievous Sixth Scale Figure and sadly this item has not met with either our high standards or the quality expectations that you should expect from Sideshow. In short, we've failed you.

We apologize, and we want to make it right.

To start, we will be adding $10 in Sideshow Rewards to your account simply for having to deal with this unexpected issue and to thank you again for being a customer, a fan, and a fellow collector.

Secondly, for those of you experiencing issues with loose arms and restricted poseability, we have identified and corrected the issue. New primary joints will be automatically shipped out to you free of charge. The current estimated arrival for these replacements is 4 to 6 weeks.

The process for swapping out the primary joints is very straightforward, and we'll be sending out instructions in the coming weeks to demonstrate.

If this does not resolve issues you may be experiencing with the figure, or if you would simply prefer a full refund, we are happy to accommodate that — this will include your NRD (non-refundable deposit).

Our Customer Support team is here if you need to reach out, or if you have any further questions or concerns.

Once again, we want to thank you for your understanding and patience.
Please accept our deepest apologies.
The Sideshow Team

Ah, so this is the reason my last flex payment was pushed out yet another 30 days. They‘ll probably either be swapping parts or including the new parts with the figure...

Or taking an extra month to coat all the joints with nail polish as someone mentioned. 😄

yeah well they did the same thing with the infamous bespin han remember half a photo a teaser and still nothing. And that was like what two almost three years ago now.
No that was different. Bespin Han was only teased in the pictures of Bespin Leia. Grogu was full on announced without pictures, just because Sideshow showed their 1:1 statue and HT was like: "Yeah, we don't have photos yet, but we'll make one too, so don't go buy the statue just yet." (Or something along those lines).

Just wanted to say that I have the 2014 version and I've only posed it out of the box and left it (after it sat in the box a few years) but its still together. It sucks many people have had bad experiences.

Yeah same, the joints on the first release I believe were better. Mine can still hold poses all this time later but I don’t change it up too often. Still, the joints on the re-issue are sad and far from an improvement!

Apparently those inflated prices on eBay are because the item is "out of stock" and they don't actually have it in hand. Nowhere on their listing does it state that at all, so they're obvioulsy just hoping some gullible person comes along and buys it for 4x retail price.

I was very close to grabbing this...waited until the reviews from the last few weeks...and now sad but glad not for buying this figure. I love his design and wanted a 1:6 represented in my collection...but just not worth the hassle and rolling the dice to get one with well documented issues and have to send it back to SS.

To all of you with a Grievous: Be mindful when bending the upper legs/thighs. Grab the pelvis when rotating them, do NOT grab the body and bend, if you do the pelvis section might break. Just noticed some minor damage on mine, where the mold split.

My Grievous arrived this week. I must have been lucky his arm joints are not crazy stupid loose. That said he will NOT stand on one foot unaided
Check all the fingers on your copy. Mine have a few loops/hinges with cracks, increasing the risk of future breakage significantly. Also, check the pelvis on your figure. More specifically where the two parts are glued together, I believe it might be at risk of breaking if one is not careful when repositioning the upper legs. Mine shows signs of it sadly. Not sure if this problem is limited to the re-issue but haven't heard any original owners complain about it.

If you find any issues, you should report them back to Sideshow for investegation or partial refund. Better to do it now before the 30-day return window has closed.
