Yep, Filoni explained that. He said they expected a backlash from fans for introducing a new character next to beloved Anakin. Rather than fighting with that backlash, they decided to control and direct that negativism. So, they created her as an annoying character where they could decide which portions will be annoying. Then as series went on, they developed her into a loveable character. Smart move, I say.

Maybe I'm in a minority but I never found her annoying in the early seasons. Perhaps because I was late watching Clone Wars and first saw her in The Mandalorian.

Definitely in my top 5 Star Wars characters now and this figure can't come soon enough.

Yeah i never felt she was that annoying. I thought Luke in ANH and Anakin in AOTC and ROTS were much more annoying but i know they were supposed to be.

At the time that Lucasfilm was setting up their singapore animation studio to handle TCW, Lucas was interviewed and said he was developing two shows. One was an animated show set during the gap between AOTC and ROTS, and one was to be a live action show set between ROTS and ANH following some incognito Jedi, trying to blend in and avoid the Jedi Purge as best they can.
The live action one never really materialised, but there was speculation at the time that it was going to feature an older Ahsoka.
I suppose unless someone asks George, we will never know, lol.

Did they take that idea and use it for Rebels?

I watched all of Clone Wars during quarantine last year. I didn't find her annoying either but I think that's because I saw her character development within a span of weeks rather than years. She may very well be my 2nd all time favorite Star Wars character next to Anakin/Vader.

I hope to eventually see a Rebels version Hot Toys. I was absolutely thrilled with Rosario Dawson's Ahsoka in Mandalorian but I think she could have looked better and I'm looking forward to her own Disney+ series. I'm hoping it leads to and continues "Ahsoka the White" from the end of Rebels.

Funny you say that, one of my friends just recently finished TCW a few months back and said the same thing.

Might of been a bit different for us who was watching the show weekly.

Ashley Eckstein posted in instagram the character brief she got for Ahsoka right before she did some voice recording. Seems like Ahsoka was really intended to be annoying at the start to highlight that character development throughout the series.

Nowhere in that character brief suggests that Ahsoka was intended to be annoying.

I don't believe that for a second.

Don't get me wrong, I was surprised and happy with the character development over the series for Ahsoka.
But I think it's pretty obvious that they all thought her initial feistiness and attitude would make her seem "strong" and "cool" to fans.
That works when the fanbase is all children... maybe they forgot that there would be a lot of adult fans watching the show as well.

I find writers are doing that a lot more these days. I'm guessing it developed out of the tv/film hero characters from the 80's. A lot of popular heroes (cops, buddy cops, soldiers, etc.) were written as rebels, who go against orders to get the job done or do what's right.
But these days, it seems like a pre-requisite. I was watching WandaVision over the weekend, I couldn't stop thinking the Rambeau character would never have gotten very far in a military/government organization if she's berating her boss in public like that....

I couldn't find where I watched it, probably in those weekly featurettes of TCW. But I found this which also says Filoni intentionally presented her with flaws:

Thank you! I always found Luke to be super whiny and annoying until ROTJ. And Anakin is a close second. I wonder why they are given a pass...

Wow, did not know that. Maybe it was the best it didn't happen that way.

I had a dilemma on whether or not to cancel this for the new Mando Ahsoka. I did some comparisons and decided to stick with this even though I really like the new one and I?m a big Ahsoka fan. I like the vibrant colors of this one better and I feel like it will represent the character better on the shelf. Plus I just don?t have the room for both figures. Anyone else having this problem?

Make room :lol

Agree with Chris. Make room.

But if you can absolutely only have one, I would take the TCW version.

I like Dawson and the Ahsoka episode episode, but she was a guest star in someone else’s show there.

This version is of Ahsoka front and center in the Siege of Mandalore arc and completed her Clone Wars era journey. Plus it looks like Ashley Eckstein.

Yup. That?s pretty much what I was thinking too.

I'm getting both as well but I would probably choose the Mando version if I was forced. No wrong answer here as both look good to me. The Mando version is overpriced and comes with rubber arms that you probably won't want to put in action poses. My guess is that if you like Ahsoka enough to buy one, you probably will end up with both because there will likely be a decent amount of time between the releases.

Definitely no wrong answers when it comes to these two. Now of course there will be more Ahsoka HTs once her show comes out, but I really like her ninja style outfit in Mando, and TCW season 7 outfit Is just too iconic now. Both for me please.
