Yeah, I could see that's how HT would have done it - the cloth cap glued onto/over a plastic magnetized hairpiece that swaps out with the full hairpiece.

And sorry, didn't mean to ignite a storm over this issue. :lol:slap yeah, the fig's truly superb overall and can't wait.

As I mentioned, it's just I had intended to cast the cap for use on other Imperials but now feel the sculpt lines are too pronounced to work for lighter grey-green paint of a standard Imp uniform but it's more hidden with it being black on Krennic (though still visible.)

I do prefer sculpted caps over cloth, but there really aren't any good sculpted Imperial caps. The Sideshow sculpted one is terrible. This is a resculpt of the old Hasbro one on my WIP Piett (head's just sitting on neck, no Imperial disc glued as I had intended to use it on the Krennic cap cast) that I had hoped to replace with the HT Krennic cast:

I did do a resculpt of the Sisdeshow one that fixed it to some degree, but it's a fairly low detail sculpt. We really need a good Imperial cap sculpt.:gah::lol

The only way a fabric cap would sit right (hold the proper shape of hair pushed down inside) is if he had an interchangeable piece to replace his actual hair sculpt. It wouldn?t look natural having fabric stretched over that sculpted hair style... unless he was bald.

He actually is bald. I think that is another plus how well they hid the replaceable hair seams on the sculpt. He looks like Munson from Kingpin to me with the hair off. Quite frightening bald cause the sculpt looks so real.

It would be some work but filling in the grooves with putty could work. I would like to finally have some proper Imperial hats too. Your Piett cap looks great. I have Praji hats and they look twice as tall as yours while his fabric one is too big for current head sculpts. Was Piett?s originally a lower profile or did you resculpt that?

Yeah the seam is very well hidden. They actually continued the paint apps/skin texture through most of the bald magnet area. Looks kinda creepy.

Apologies for adding to Page 3 of Hats :lol
Here?s another shot.

Haha - this has been 3 pages of hats. Sorry - here's some MORE!:slap:lol Great pic - I'm so jealous you already have this. Believ it or not, I bought an EXTRA Tarkin to stand next to Krennic.:horror:yess:

And yeah, I did do a shrink/taking-in of the Praji cloth hat also - it's quite a bit too large for modern heads. It's still not great, but looks okay (pic below).

Yeah, Piett's cap in ESB is actually a more collapsed/flatter look than the officers for some reason, so I went with a pretty significant resculpt of the hasbro, which has that slumped/flatter look that's right for Piett. For my other officers, I did a resculpt of the SSC plastic cap, which is a bit rough.

Yeah it really looks great how well hidden that line is. The Sideshow Temple of Doom Indy had a similar set up but ugh, what a freakin' ugly and obvious seam it has. HT has done a superb job on Krennic's seam.

2 Tarkins? Nice! I?ve got another Krennic coming from SSC. Had to get 2 for both display options :D
Great job on those mods... Admiral Ozzel (DiD sculpt?) and the Bulloch officer look awesome! :clap
I need to get back on making more Imperials :gah:

Thanks, Imperials are so much fun for a display, yet there's only been a small handful made. Chakaman has made a ton. And yes, it is a little crazy to get a second Tarkin I know, especially with the tight space/too many figs situation I have.:lol

The only problem is I bought the second one loose a while ago (not long after Krennic came outta nowhere) but it didn't come with the code cylinders - what a total pain. I may try to cast my other Tarkin's rank cylinders two bundled together now that Krennic is shipping soon. They're so damn small.

But yeah, one will be in the chair with Vader ANH-style, the other facing off with Ben like yours in the RO match-up.:yess:

I caved, the Director is out for delivery. 3 days to my doorstep from Hong Kong. DHL is just impressive, especially through his pandemic. I cannot get a package from Sideshow in three days. Haha.

How much are you paying for these off eBay or Asian sellers? The couple I looked at seemed like they were maybe $30 more than Sideshow, plus more for shipping. Is there an Asian seller, eBay or otherwise, where you can get Krennic for approx what you'd pay on Sideshow?

He was like $251 and I upgraded to DHL shipping to get the faster shipping, I think it was like $295 all in with DHL. Toyswonderland.

After tax and shipping that is only about $20 more than Sideshow.

Cool, thanks. Yeah I did see that Toyswonderland one. Ugh - two Tarkins, now possibly two Krennics. This is not good. :lol

That Ozzel sculpt is awesome!

No, it's just DID officer sculpt (can't recall the name - I've had Ozzel on the bench for years) - and it wasn't even my find, I copied Chakaman (as I often do:lol) with the choice.

Took forever to find the DTs in storage. Really bummed pet stores are not open as I have a really nice idea for an environment but will have to wait a bit unfortunately.

I love that it took you a long time to find that many of the same fig in your storage.:rotfl

:lol I screwed up and put them with my stormtroopers hoard. I have a condition for imperials.

Yeah it really sucks if you want to pose with Tarkin, cause he was in his formal look the whole movie with him but damn the Poncho/Hat combo look is too cool. Great head sculpt, the neck is a bit thin. The tailoring is top notch, I may grab these boots for Han, they are much shinier than the old styled boots.

Here is one for Hatgate....

Sooo awesome. Yeah, the two looks are both so good. I really have to say no to two of these though - it's just stupid after a second Tarkin.:lol

Dunno what they were thinking with that face-pic on the stand though. Hope that's not a HT thing going forward.

The only thing I don't like about his outfit in the movie is the gun. Just doesn't feel very OT Imperial to me. Still thinking I might give him one of the OT pistols like Praji.

It?s funny cause he is a left handed bad guy and evidently that is a rare thing for left handed shooters for villains. In general left handed protagonists are rare, the legend of Zelda Link character is a more famous left handed lead, silliness.

The gun is a cool retro piece, to your point though it seems out of place with the imperial navy standard issue weapons.

Hat Gate cont.

Nice job on the caps, TB. I?ll have a go at sizing down the Praji buckets ;) I also agree on Krennic?s blaster... a bit to future-future for an OT look but I can deal with it.

Nice DT collection HokieTwo. My favorite trooper. Looks even more impressive in their boxes :D
Looking forward to seeing your setup shots.

That'll be a damn nice setup Hokie ! Glad you managed to find those 7 Deathtroopers, that many are really inconspicuous to find :lol

I'm guessing you're going for some green moss and black sand from the pet shop, right ?

As far as Krennic's pistol, I'm actually fine with it. How many Imperials have we seen with a full white outfit and cape ?! The guy can have a special weapon too while he's at it. :)

As far as hat-gate. No comment.....:lol

I gotta take my hat off to ya Hokie(pun intended)
That?s going to be one hell of a display ;)
