There are many ?self bidders?

It’s possible I suppose. If that’s the case here I don’t understand why some sellers do that. Either start your item at a higher starting bid or put a high Buy It Now price or set a reserve.

There are other bodies you could buy to replace it. Although that’s added cost to an expensive figure.

I already nabbed a sealed Hollywood Collectibles Group McCoy statue instead for under $300 to incl. $45 s/h and 10% CA tax. I think the likeness is slightly better than QMx and the body is light-years better. Of course, it's not a figure but a statue (shrug): https://www.secretcompassonline.com/Star-Trek-Dr-McCoy-Sixth-Scale-Statue/

Yeah it's not a "set" it's just two individual figures shipped together. Separate boxes is how I received mine.

And I called BBTS and confirmed that they always double box their shipments so that manufacturer shipping boxes are protected--which is more than I can say for QMx, by the way.

I'm almost tempted to try for it so I can get that exclusive tunic. And then sell my regular version to recoup much of the money.
I almost feel like I’d use the tunic more than the regular duty uniform. It would hide the muscular body somewhat and it’s a unique look.

Only problem is I already switched my McCoy to a slimmer body, so if the regular uniform is a bit baggy on that, I can only imagine how big the tunic might look on him...

He looks great. If you want the shirt tighter, just pin it in the back. You can't see it anyway.

People don’t know how to play the eBay game. That McCoy started at $199 and is already up to $246 after three bids with six days to go. I pretty much always try to bid as close to the auction end time as possible.

Actually there is nothing wrong with a person putting in an initial bid when knowing this thing will go much higher. I often do that. This may discourage others and it puts the item under your radar. Then, you can come back at the last minute and place a final bid.:naughty

It depends how desirable the item is. I just try to avoid bidding wars by starting early. I find that happens more often than not, especially when it?s got a long time left.

Like I say though I probably won’t go for this McCoy anyways. Since I just bought Khan I don’t really want to drop more cash on another figure, especially when it probably will go for a high price.

Exactly. And in this case there is no doubt in anyone's mind who has eyed this that it won't go for more. There is no pretending it won't. But I'm not sure why this particular listing is so desirable when it's described as used with some areas of wear on the figure. I recon it's all about the tunic.

It’s desirable because the figure is hard to find for a reasonable price, and plus this is the exclusive version. As far as it showing signs of wear, I’m not seeing anything in the pictures. It might be something small, but the seller is being cautious so someone doesn’t receive it and try and act upset over whatever reason to get a refund or whatever.

It’s kind of amazing how far we’ve come to covet a McCoy figure at this point, with all its flaws and overly inflated cost. We simply have to have Bones standing next to the Kirk figure as he sits stiffly on his chair on the bridge. If Bones had a Pinocchio nose and Martian antennas we would simply fork over the dough and happily pull out the Dremel saw, whistling while we worked. Such is the desperation of me the collector. Thank you sir, may I have another!

It’s because you kind of need him to round out the classic TOS group. Yes the others are important too, but Kirk, Spock, and McCoy are really the core characters that I think most fans want representing their display. Plus it’s just a sickness with collectors. :lol. I want all the Trek figures I can have, and stupidly didn’t buy them when they were readily available and reasonably priced. So stupid, but at the time I was thinking I’d get my TOS character representations from movie versions. How wrong I was there. :slap

I thought I saw where someone was making decals for Kirks tablet. Are those still being made? Because I would love to get one for my figure.
