The movie is an abomination. They took ******** on the fans to a whole new level with this movie. I'm surprised people are even contemplating buying anything from it. Needs to be forgotten and erased from memory.

Absolutely agree here. This is why I never buy things from movies I don't like...even if this bust looks phenomenal.

Sad waste of space. The movie sucked so hard, how one can justify to spend so much effort and resources on a product, even hardcore Pred fans wont toss cash at???

I'm surprised that they even went ahead and made this. Top work from the people that put the effort in but such a waste of time and effort.

On the movie, I agree entirely. But I do think that a good creature design is a separate entity to the movie it stars in. Wolf is probably the best example of this, AVP:R was terrible, but it doesn't stop Wolf from being 100% awesome. I don't really like the design of this Predator, so I wouldn't buy any expensive statues (His face is pretty cool though so this bust looks good even to me) But for people who did like the look of this guy, I'm not sure that the movie being so tragic would mean too much.

Wolf has the double bonus of looking great and acting great. Fugitive had his moments but I'm not a fan of his armour and he was killed by a big CGI monster.

Also AVPR > The Predator

I completely agree with both of these comments. My point was simply that some people will undoubtedly like the look of this character (I don't) And the fact that it's a dreadful movie doesn't have to interfere with that for them. A lot of people hate Alien 3 (Again, I don't) But the Dog Alien is a beautiful and faithful piece of creature design regardless.

Yes, you make a good point about the Dog Alien.

I think with regards to the Fugitive Predator you have to look at the bigger picture. Like with Classic in Predators he was a fan pleaser to soften the blow of them pushing their Super Predator/ CGI DNA injecting mutant Predator ideas in Predators/The Predator.

Having got over the initial shock, I actually love the first half of "The Predator".

I look at it the same way I originally looked at AVP - I was unhappy with that when I first saw it (primarily the seemingly accelerated speed that the aliens gestated AND killing 2 Preds so quickly) - but I quite like it now.

It's like any franchise - if it suddenly departs from an accepted "ballpark/universe" it gets slagged-off by some, but there are others that will moan if it's "more of the same". I know that's not the case for you guys here as you're real fans - all our concerns/observations are well-documented elsewhere and are quite legit (IMO).

I've watched "The Predator" about 5 times now (more than AVP-R), and while it has MAJOR faults and I curse out loud regarding its awfulness throughout the 2nd half, I LOVE the "loonies". I thought all was going quite nicely until the fugitive got pulled apart. I even like some of the final battle now - but am still pissed at the dumb deaths of such cool characters. And MAJOR pissed at the stupidity of the core plot idea and that effin' "transformer"!

The designs have grown on me (but not that gold armour) - I bought the 2 NECA Preds but that'll be my limit on this movie (even though the large PRIME1 statue of the Assassin Pred is awesome). Still don't own ANY mass-produced AVP-R collectibles - not even NECA stuff - HATE that film with a passion (even though I was there for some of the filming).

Full CGI for the main Predator is unforgivable IMO. Disrespects everything about the character. All down hill from that point.

I can't even decide between the two. It's be like choosing between two turds, just laid by different species of animal. You could maybe make a case based on which animal is cleaner or more elegant, but at the end of the day, we're still talking about poo. Neither should be acceptable.

Watching AVPR for the first time - you know it's a bad movie but for me personally I had a tonne of fun watching Wolf. Wolf in the crashed ship (especially the deleted scene) is one of my favourite Predator moments in the franchise.

They got the Predator part right in AVPR.

Compare that to The Predator and its night and day.

CGI Predator, hybridisation, Predator Killer suit, new 'bigger and better' Predator killing 'original' looking Predator...AGAIN!

Urgh!...

OK - that's you two off the Christmas list :)

:lol I am genuinely surprised that you like this movie. I will have to try and watch it again, but I found it fairly painful first time around. I am with goose regarding the CGI assassin. This franchise has been kept alive by (mostly) Wonderful suit work so far, the CGI Predator was an abomination. AVP:R isn't good by any stretch, but I didn't find it completely agonising. Although I think I only ever watched that at the cinema when it first came out. Maybe I'll give both another go. AVP is just fine, it has enough enjoyable moments to counter the worse bits for me. I think after the original 2, Predators is by far the best of the rest, in a different league even for me. But a lot of people don't seem to like that one...

Yeah - I think my sequence would currently be:

  • Predator 2
  • Predator
(* bar lowered *)

  • Predators
(* bar lowered a lot *)

  • AVP
  • The Predator (because of the human characters - NOT the Preds)
(* need an open bar [and a brightness control] to watch *)

  • AVP-R

I'd move "The Predator" down to the last category, but I agree otherwise. Most of them have enjoyable parts in their own way. I forget, did the Predator have that Predator killing Iron man suit at the end, or was that an outtake I watched? :lol

No, that really happened! The final nail in the coffin for the franchise.

They had a great cast there and they did an OK job however you have to get the Predator right (or as close to it) in a Predator movie. Black & Dekker didn't just get the Predator wrong, they completely **** all over the character.

Yeah - that's fair . . . ironically - they just didn't have the tools for the job

Yeah - my Son & I BOTH exclaimed (whispered out loud) - "What the ****** ?!?!" when that happened. That one scene alone (ignoring all the other immensely stupid bits) shows there were WAY too many idiots involved in the scripting & production.

The franchise will survive - no worries - it's got too strong a following and too much money-making potential to be ignored for good. It might be a few years longer than we'd like - but we'll get more (and I'd think it's pretty much guaranteed THIS will get forgotten as regards "canon").

I don't think it does survive - not from a fan point of view anyway.

I have no faith in Disney to to deliver a solid R rated Predator film.
