ST figures and ST hate will be explicably linked from now until the end of time.

Design is nice, color and name not. What is their duty? Hunting Sith?

Little bit Spartan-like with the design. Can't say I don't like it. But no need for it.

I think it's hilarious that people ***** about new trooper designs, even the outlandish ones. This isn't a Disney thing - this is a Star Wars thing period. From Dark Troopers to Space Troopers, it's not like it's a new thing to slap XYZ in front of trooper and make a variant.

Star Wars is fun but it's a vehicle for toys. Lucas pioneered that mindset.

Okay, have to be honest here. Not a ST basher, and let's not even go into the flaws of the movies and stuff now.

But purely from a design point of view, while I do think it does look fairly cool, it feels incredibly lazy, and seeing how past versions of troopers turned out, they won't have a significant role in the film anyway, and it genuinely feels like/is a cash-grab through a slight redesign.

Yep totally. I mean the OT had several totally different looking troopers. (Storm, Snow, Scout). Surely they must have seen that the duck trooper design wasn't the most popular. And even if it was, something a bit different would create more interest. There were millions of concepts to choose from.

Their helmets are very similar to the Phase 2 Clone Trooper. He wouldn’t look too out of place in a clone trooper collection. Got a feeling this Sith army could well be a new clone army.

I don’t get all the hate, it’s an improvement on most of the other FO troopers. However, I wouldn’t pay that price for it, and will wait until they’re going on eBay for £120 in 18 months time.

Supposedly there are at least fifty Sith Troopers in the film. So that alleviates any worries it’ll be another ERG, but what really stinks about this Hot Toys release (as far as I can see) is that Hasbro’s release has soooo many of the awesome looking weapons with it. There’s a bunch of Praetorian Guard-esque weapons. Surprise Hasbro did so many weapons for the SDCC release or whatever since the FO Trooper and the Capt. Rex early releases had so few weapons. If they actually have the other weapons, I’ll order this. Otherwise, I’ll wait.

I don't buy these figures to play with so extra weapons that will remain in the box is not important.

This is at least from the movie though...

None of the Last Jedi stuff sold out from sideshow except for the praetorian guards somehow. Hot toys should really stick to the classic trilogy and some prequel stuff.

No they should not. Hot Toys needs to cater to more than the people determined to live only in the past.

No hate. Like most people I guess it's just a bit of disappointment (nothing too amazing just red). So like you say definitely not new & awesome enough to get straight away for that price.

Perhaps it's just too early. Maybe this final movie will make the final trilogy amazing.....

Man, and people complain why HTs don't make SW figures. This is why. They put something out and 75% of the thread are fans bashing the movie that's not even out or fans fighting with the other fans that like the figure. Why would HTs invest resources into a high risk market when there is a Marvel cash cow sitting right there.

I like the detail and coloring on this.

This kind of idea to me is lame generally, but in execution it looks really cool.

I like the weapons on the Black Series version. I hope we get more info about what's the early release edition differs. I just hope they don't pull another death trooper on collectors.
