For me it’s definitely not the worst XM movie that honor still goes to Wolverine Origins then The Wolverine.

I’m trying to think which I prefer though between this and Last Stand?

Tough call but the action tips it towards DP for me.

Regarding which movie handles Phoenix better, neither really so it’s a wash but if I really had to choose just one then the Phoenix narrative goes to DP as well.

Loved it ! A bit of a mess but awesome X-men action if not some of the best. Some of the BEST 3D consistently. Just a fun gritty mutant film. Not the best not the worst. GREAT music, wow. So refreshing for a superhero genre film to be under 2 hours. Anyway a lot to say but no time now. Kind of thankful for the overdramatic people on here who rushed out Thursday night to come on here and trash it as if it killed your first born. Thanks for making this surprise the **** out of me , if not blow me away. Worst bit for me was jean, her troubled emotional powers blah blah are always destined to bore me.

Quite obvious this should have been after first class, and then DOFP should have been the finale ending the fox films.

You loved it yet you end your review with the “WORST BIT FOR ME” “JEAN” “BORED ME”...you know Jean THE CORE MAIN CHARACTER THAT THE MOVIE IS NAMED AFTER, BORED YOU!

You know why I rush out for X-Men, Batman, WW, Superman, Joker, MCU and Godzilla lol....because I love them all that’s why.

But it’s good to know that your definition of what makes a great movie is a boring main character that the freaking movie is named after!

Nah I’m just saying the subject matter of jeans personality of Phoenix always bored me. I was born after the comic and it’s all I ever heard about saw in the cartoons multiple times ( every version of an animated X-men has it) , it’s always referenced in the comics , x3. Blah blah blah. But I thought she did great acting, I thought the drama and action between the other characters it brought about was interesting, no Shakespeare. I was never into the female superhero character who waves her hands around in place of action. Luckily this movie finds multiple excuses to let the other X-men go at it. Never said it was a great film. But a fun time in the theater yes! I think my audience agreed as well.

I love having parallel fandoms where not all of us are passionate about the exact same films but yeah gushing over a movie that has a main character that bores you does seem odd. But then again I know a lot of people loved RO but were bored by Jyn so it's not unheard of, lol.

On the one hand, being an xmen homer, I'm glad to see that someone here actually enjoyed the movie. On the other hand, your praise seems to be related to run time, the music, and the 3D. I don't like 3D movies and have no plan to see this in 3D. And the other two pieces don't really matter that much to me personally, so I'm still going to be a bit cautious in my expectations. However, I probably will see this at the theaters. Ive seen every X-Men movie at the theaters so far.

Because this was the last of the fox movies they should’ve never went with the Phoenix story line it’s just very unfulfilling how this movie and the series ended.

Ok here goes...

Khev man EG kicked so much ass but Cap wielding Mjolnir and saying Avengers Assemble in the comics has always bored me so him wielding Mjolnir in the movie and saying Avengers blah blah blah were always destined to bore me.

If he hates the Phoenix Saga but loves short movies and 3D then more power to him.

Not terrible but very meh. Some good action but the story itself is nonsensical, a lot of the performances are phoned in (JLaw was clearly just here for that paycheck; not that I blame her). And once again poor Storm ends up as glorified wallpaper, as do Quicksilver and Nightcrawler. Even once you get past it not being a very good adaptation of the Dark Phoenix Saga (I'm not one of those fanboys who hates story liberties, usually), it doesn't stand on its own as a movie very well.

Sad end to the franchise though. I would've preferred they just let Logan be the end so they could finish on a high note.

Hey people like what they like what’s the big deal. Some of you people on here are just the worst. Glad I’m not surrounded by people like that in the real world. I went with four people everyone enjoyed it, we agreed that jean grey was a bit boring. We agreed the 3D and X-men action was awesome ( like the main reason any casual person would go to see it ). And we were all happy it didn’t drag on for over 2 hours. And I found the score to actually be good and memorable. Omg shocking points I know

I didn’t go in with hopes that it would match a comic book or any other movie continuity. I forgot that stuff over the years anyway.

So I was just going in to be entertained. It worked.

I liked the characters, the team, and the action was awesome. I’m going again to see a 3D showing.

That lead up to the rescue, the actual rescue, and what happened after was great.

The X-Men hotline to the White House was awesome. X-Jet blasting into space, etc. This is a really fun movie.

But the movie had no score the entire XM theme was jettisoned for that Phoenix synthesizer sound.

While it sounded cool at times it still wasn’t traditional music that one would ever listen to on its own.

Have an 11 hour flight and looked up best X-men stories. Was convinced to download X-men: mutant gensis. Hopefully it’s got the goods

If Mutant Genesis is the Jim Lee Chris Claremont story with Magneto it's pretty good. The art is amazing and Claremont was one of the best X-Men writers.
