I think it's perfectly possible to like The Last Jedi for what it was and at the same time wish we'd got something different. The whole sequel trilogy to me should have been about getting Luke, Leia and Han together in the Millennium Falcon cockpit, and having some wild adventures. I like the new central trio of characters but no one needed them to take centre stage.

Would have liked it if it was a 6-part movie plan with the first 3 involving the OT heroes and introducing the new characters, and also not necessarily about killing the OT heroes off along the way.

:lol

TFA had the rifle target sights on Han, TLJ had target sights on Luke, Ep IX would have had the target sights on Leia, but CF died before they could.:dunno

I still can't believe that Luke ****ing Skywaker was only really in ONE movie of the trilogy that follows ROTJ (silent stare and ghost cameo notwithstanding).:slap:lol

What is this thread about again? Oh yeah, this figure... :wink1:

Thanks!

It's about Luke ****ing Skywalker!:rotfl

That first pic is great. Even though the jawline seems a bit too prominent, the lighting in those pics brings out that Hamill likeness.

My Endor helmet head should be here tomorrow.:yess:

Does the hair look better in person because I just don’t see it look any better in photos :slap

Just got the helmet head from this fig - the face is like the Snowspeeder Luke face, where the sculpt is really quite decent, the paint quite solid and clean yet it still feels not quite right.

It's a weird thing how HT just seems to have gotten paint so realistic that even quite well-done heads like this one just feel slightly off and less convincing than they should. I always wonder where Hasbro 12" heads would be today if they had continued up until now, especially given the realistic new apps/sculpt they are doing with 6" - probably not as good as this Luke head, but possibly in that ball park.

The main issue I have with this helmeted head is that the endor helmet itself feels a bit undersized - I have to take a look at ref pics when I have a chance in the next day or so, but it just feels small to me at a glance. Which is odd, because the old SSC Endor helmets from the troopers are oversized. Maybe that's why this one feels too small - hopefully I just got used to the oversized one and this one isn't small as I suspect.

For those wanting to go the cheapo route, this is the SSC DX Luke head with Hasbro Endor gear (jumpsuit, trimmed poncho, modded belt.) I need to glue down the neck ruffle area a bit more - the hasbro poncho is pretty huge.

It has the SSC DX boots (not a huge fan - they don't really achieve posing very well) and black glove hand.

This will suffice until the HT Endor Luke comes out with new parts. It's not one of the important outfits to me, but will see about upgrading to the HT poncho and parts. I'll probably swap out the face for maybe the HT Bespin Luke if the teethy HT sculpt isn't tweaked.

i was going to use the hasbro but when i saw the new version up at TA i bought it. so my luke consist of the following parts.
1 hot toys slim body that i got some years ago.
2 sideshow Endor luke
3 deluxe sideshow luke top.
4 hot toys black pants with altered fat suit.
5 hot toys luke jedi boots did not like the sideshow luke deluxe boots as they looked to bulky.

This looks great!

How exactly did you "trim" the poncho?

I only spent about an hour on this all up. Basically all I did was take a fabric wheel cutter and trimmed maybe an inch on the front edge and back edge, lapped them with fabric glue, then used one of the fabric strips to create the neck muffler. I'm going to glue that muffler down a bit more to shrink maybe another 10%.

I actually bought those Luke DX SSC boots for my Ozzel but I just didn't like them much - as I mentioned, the reason for the split upper and lower boot I guess is for posing but any pose beyond neutral creates this visible gap. I sliced my SSC ATAT driver boots for articulation (ie created almost a ball joint) and it seemed to work there, at least for slight poses, but these look a bit wonky. They are also a bit bulky and big, both the foot part and the upper. That's why I ended up putting them on this fig.

I do feel this SSC helmet is a bit undersized. For laughs get the old SSC Endor helmet and put it next to this one - it looks like a PF 1/4 scale. I bought it to cast the upper part to make more helmets. What I may do is cast it, expand it a bit, then recast it. It's not off by much, just maybe 10-15%. You can see in comparing it to the HT version that the helmet "donut" needs to be a little bulkier.

The buckle is the Hasbro one that I removed from the plastic belt and used some ribbon I had sitting around - I had intended to paint it but just used it as-is. The fig's a smidge tall because I used an old regular SSC body.

Nice. The proportions and baggy-ness look good.

Yeah, the SSC one is nice but its seems a bit too snug. It's not a major issue at all but in the movie it really is very drapey and has a fair amount of volume. Sideshow seems to have this issue from time to time where they misjudge the volume of a garment - the Zuckuss big coat was nearly baggy enough.

The color is another tricky one to get right - in the movie it almost seems grey (or maybe taupe) with brown splotches and a few faint green marks. I can't say any of the ponchos - SSC, HT or Hasbro quite got it right. The HT one seems a bit more akin to Leia's poncho coloration.

Anyone else manage to break the lightsabre hilt while trying to attach the blade?

FFS.

Meh. I’ve contacted Sideshow for a new hilt.

I’ve received so many faulty and damaged figures from Sideshow over the years and never once asked for a replacement. For some reason this was “the straw that broke the camels back”.

Anyway, I don’t understand the hate for this figure. Sure, it’s not perfect and blah blah, but there’s something very cool about it and from the right angle, it’s a pretty good likeness.

You dont understand the hate for the figure but then go on to say...."from the right angle its a pretty good likeness". So you sort of answered your own mystery then. I dont hate the figure, but for the cost vs value vs the HT being released, its just not that good (to me). Had it been half of what they charged... maybe...i wouldn't have bought it anyway, but it would have been more tolerable. One shouldn't have to work too hard (swapping clothes, heads, helmets with other figures and looking at it only from appropriate angles) to get a decent resemblance. Cant speak for anyone else but that's my reasoning for the "hate" that you dont understand. Not being a smartass simply explaining.
