I’ve seen staining on several Barbie figures over the years. They are not immune. I’ve used Barbie outfits for custom figures and staining has always been an issue particularly on her rubber hands or PVC legs.

It all started when the regular Luke was released and the instruction booklet mentioned some “future accessories”, some people theorized that it could be a separate accessory pack and when the deluxe version was announced as a separate and complete figure they were upset, especially because the deluxe has a windswept hair and sculpture and non-LED, gloved open right hands. Others defended Hot Toys arguing that with so many different accessories and possibilities, buying two was worth it.

Oh. Well then. I stopped coming to the Star Wars section of this site for a while because I've been making payments on Prime 1's Venom statue and getting on here makes me want more Star Wars figures. I just found out about Hot Toys' Krennic and Deluxe Luke. This damn hobby is as addictive as heroin lol.

I bought the standard Luke July last summer. I admit I'm a tad upset that a definitive version is coming out now, which I 100% have to get. Guess I'll turn my standard I already have into a Dark Side Luke from the EU.

Received the SSC Jedi Luke Deluxe Vest and Cloth Belt from Toy Anxiety. I must say I prefer it to the HT Vest. Here are my two Jedi Luke's together.

That is really great, the sculpt is fantastic! Best Luke Skywalker hero 1/6 figure I have seen and I don't think it's close.

Did you do anything to the cloak I can never get mine to look that good

Yep, that's definitely the best 1/6 Luke sculpt/paint job I've ever seen!

There have been some people who had staining on the hands from Obi Wan’s cloak. Just doesn’t seem like it should be a thing that happens as often as it does in 2019. Mattel somehow manages to make it work for Barbie and those are primarily designed to be played with (longevity is not really in mind) for significantly less cost. I get that the outfits are not as complex as Hot Toys but I am sure many of the same processes are used.

I can confirm that my obi wan fingertips were indeed stained after a month or so of posing him with his hand pulling his cloak back.
No biggie as it was a cheap replacement from TA. Cheaper than a head sculpt though.

It almost seems hit or miss with staining. I’ve had the hood of my ANH Obi-Wan on pretty much for as long as I’ve had him, and whenever I take it off, I don’t see any staining on the sculpt.

Ok Freaks, I need some help. I picked this Luke up from my local store and when I got him home and opened him up, I just can't see the resemblance of the head sculpt to the box art and to other head sculpts I've seen here and on eBay. I took a few pics in true light and from inside the house. Also, this figure was not brand new when I got it. Is it me or is my head sculpt off for some reason. I've sat and stared at it with my own eyes and I can't see it but I do see it in the pics. Sorry about the side wards pics in advance.

I don’t see anything wrong with the sculpt. Looks like every other one I’ve seen. Sometimes pics do not do a sculpt justice. Especially when you use a flash. Proper lighting is your friend.

See I can see the likeness when I look at it from a pic but when I look at it in my hand, it looks different. I swear my eyes are messing with me. Lol

Looks just like the figure everyone got.

The eye and a camera see things different, there have been times I set up a shot and using my eyes it looks great but when I snap it with the camera it just doesn’t come out the same.

The camera can also enhance things like light and shadow that may not pop as much using your eyes, my guess is the box and most photos you’ve looked at are doing this and when you look with your eyes you aren’t getting that “cinematic” effect.

Well that makes me feel better then. For some reason, I was just not seeing it with my own eyes. Lol. My wife thinks I got a counterfeit Luke. Now I need to figure out how I want to deal with his "chunky" look. I was hoping for a better, slimmer looking one straight out of the box.

You can search my posts where I’ve shown pics on what it looks like after removing the fat suit and a video showing exactly how to do it. You can also search Username’s posts where he explains how he re-tailored the suit if you are that brave.

I may be brave enough to remove the fat suit but I doubt I would talented enough to redo the tailoring on it. Lol
Thanks for the info on how to take the fat suit off though. I'll have to watch the video and read your posts on how to do that.

Your figure looks fine to me. Looks good, actually.

Yup, this is definitely a figure that needs to be displayed under the right lights like the Emperor. Looking at it in bright daylight with the shadows all washed out, the likeness won't work nearly as well.
