Thanks for the tips.

I actually put the tunics back under the armor - now it looks stock as it did out of the box. I just don't like messing too much with the figure...

Display it how you want to but there is nothing wrong with futzing and posing a figure. I prefer the tunic over the armor look but I display my collection pretty much how they are on screen because that's why I buy them. The hobby is fun though because of everyone trying new things and sharing pics.

You are correct.

However, my OCD makes me believe that even if a small part of the figure breaks, is removed or else, the figure suddenly isn't movie accurate and it's integrity is ruined.

Why did you change out Vader's cod-piece on this Rogue One action figure? His cod-piece in Rogue One is perfectly shaped and designed.

I changed out the cod piece on mine also; I don't really need a RO specific Vader, and the cod piece was so huge and thick. I think it looks way better with the ANH one.

I agree. I don't know why the cod piece was like that on the movie costume. Figure looks great with the swap.

Must be terrible to place such restrictions on yourself. But hey, it's your choice.

I actually have to admit that Vader's cod-piece in the original Star Wars isn't bad at all. I'm not a fan of it in episodes V, VI or III though. It's especially crappy in Revenge of the Sith.

Wow. First HT figure arrived and he is magnificent out of the box. My new favorite piece. Excited to compare with dark side Anakin when he arrives later this week.

Congrats. Definitely has the most shelf presence in your detolf; the powerful pose certainly helps with that.

Haha Vader’s holding it down until Gandalf/a new detolf arrives. Told myself I wasn’t going to buy a Star Wars figure and here we are.

This is my favorite Vader... well so is the ANH v1... oh and the ESB too. Each one has their ups and downs. Still the best minimal futz outta the box Vader though.

Sometimes I can't leave well enough alone. I held out for *years* to get ESB Vader into my collection, and had been very happy with him, known issues aside.

But when I got the opportunity to compare it to R1 Vader in-hand, I couldn't help myself.

And now, I have to say, out of the 2 I prefer R1.

  • I like the mask better mostly due to the tusks but there's something else about it too.
  • The cape is phenomenal. Much easier to drape and arrange naturally.
  • The figure may be too tall but his overall proportions and presence make him look more long-limbed and imposing. ESB in the wrong pose can look stocky.
  • I do also like the smaller mouth/grill on R1.

I still love the ESB iteration, but have to grudgingly give it to R1 Vader as my favourite HT version.

I haven't seen the ESB one in hand but glad others are telling me the one I have is better lol. I bought the ANH tunic so I can swap between the looks.

LOL...they're both excellent, but for my action figure taste, I give R1 a slight edge. Others opinions will vary.
