Today, I opened the FGCDX-005 Hornet figure from FLIRTY GIRL COLLECTIBLES I purchased from SMcG Customs.

I’ve been eagerly anticipating this figure since it was announced and unveiled.

The figure is based on the character of the same name in the Canadian web series HEROES OF THE NORTH. The character is portrayed in the series by Canadian cosplay and glamor model Marie-Claude Bourbonnais. Obviously, the figure is based on Marie-Claude Bourbonnais’ likeness.

Hornet is the second figure from FGC based on the HEROES OF THE NORTH license. The first figure was the previously released Crimson figure.

SMcG Customs was instrumental in facilitating the licensing agreement between FGC and HEROES OF THE NORTH as well as coordinating the overall project in the production of the figure with FGC.

The figure comes in the typical FGC box design/package with the photo of the character on the box’s front. Production credits are on the bottom of the box’s front lid.

Upon opening/removing the box’s front lid and the inner foam covering, you’ll see the figure is securely placed and already kitted out. Hornet is a minimalist figure in terms of accessories. This is not a criticism. She comes with two pairs of gloved hands. One is open palm/relaxed and the other is the action/pistol grip. Her protective glasses and pistol are secured in the foam insert as well.

Once the figure is out of the box, you’ll see she is already kitted out and will require some minor adjustments (i.e. futzing around) with regards to the drop down pouch, holster rig, and outfit based on your preference.

With mine, I noticed that the stability of the boot feet was a bit loose that made standing still slightly difficult. I would not recommend pulling out the boot feet as is; therefore, use a hot air dryer and apply it to the boot area for about 30 to 45 second and then gently pull out the boot feet.

Once I removed the boot feet, I applied a bit of Testor’s clear model cement (the kind that makes glass canopy for model kits) into the ball ankle socket hole and let it dry/harden. This provides some tension once dried that will eliminate the looseness of the boot feet. Be sure to use a hot air dryer for about 30 seconds on the ball ankle socket area before reattaching the boot feet.

In addition, the legs of the outfit may be a bit bunched up out of the box. After removing the boot feet, you may want to smooth/straighten out the bunching as well before reattaching the boot feet.

If you’re going to remove the gloved hand from either arm, be careful. Don’t pull them out as is. Use a hot air dryer on the hand/peg area for about 30 to 45 seconds and then gently pull. I ended up slightly damaging the left hand peg where it connected to the gloved hand. Fortunately, I was able to repair it using the Testor’s clear cement with no issues

The rooting of the hair is excellent and does not show any missed or thin areas. After removing the plastic band covering the head sculpt, you may want to gently brush down or pat down the hair to set it in place. The paint application on the head sculpt is great. The likeness to Marie-Claude Bourbonnais is there in my humble opinion.

Here is Hornet completed to my satisfaction. I had to futz around a bit with the holster, belt rig, and drop down pouches. She is able to stand without any issues after the minor adjustment I made with regards to the boot feet.

Hornet’s overall appearance, design, and load out remind me of some of the CY GIRL figures from the past. I mean this in a good way. I previously mentioned that Hornet is a minimalist figure in terms of accessories and gear. This is due to the character. I’m sure some of you may be resourceful enough in adding some additional bits and pieces based on your preferences if inclined.

Hornet makes a great addition to any 1:6 collection. If you have not purchased her yet and decide to get one, I recommend SMcG Customs.
