Head sculpt painting advice for 5'o clock shadow

Hey Art forum, I've been working on repainting the Jakks Batman figures and am liking the technique I've used but wondering if there is a better way for what I'm doing. I have a unpainted Daredevil head sculpt and some more Jakks figures to work on so looking for guidance or confirmation that my method works.

Here's what I'm doing as I don't have airbrush capabilities:

-Paint head sculpt all normal skin tone
-Use citadel mud texture to create texture and brown town where beard will be.
-use a lighter based light skin tone to go over entire face with a light touch. Not dry brushing but almost.
-Then use citadel shade oil to shade entire face.

I like the way it looks aside from the shine in bright light. Here are pics of the two I've done over the past week.

Looks great!

For awhile, I was struggling with getting light stubble right, since I like to zoom up my figures when I take pictures. Here is a tip that worked well for me:
