I felt like Sauron's paint job seemed a little flat, so I tried to give more depth to mine. Did a light gold wash and added some fires of Mordor ashy black highlights. Might be too gold, I don't know lol.

Not at all, the tackiness could be due to a breakdown of the paint from an incorrect layering of the types of paints and sealant. But I don't know for certain without specifics. The Tamiya sealant I use works perfectly, I alternate being "clear" for a more glossy look, and "flat clear" for...

Lacquer does not go over acrylic, it could mess up the paint job. Lacquer first, then acrylic. I use Tamiya acrylic clear spray for what you're looking to do.

I'm totally getting both. Is the only difference between the separate figs and the double deluxe pack the "luxury double pack packing?"

I havent had time to analyze it extensively but it looks like it is attached to a cord that attaches to the body. It could be a pretty easy swap out if that's the case.

Got mine, he's huge and pretty well sculpted. Chain mail is definitely too big but that can probably be swapped out. Happy I ordered. Might make a custom base so he can have even better shelf presence.
